Meet Ericka Guitron

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ericka Guitron.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I discovered singing when I was eight years old. Due to stage fright and severe timidity, I hid my singing from everyone including my parents until I was about 17.

After high school, I joined some music performance classes, determined to overcome my stage fright, and started to make YouTube videos. Those classes eventually helped me to overcome it, and one of the YouTube videos I had posted caused me to get signed to Grammy Award-winning music producer RedOne. I thought that was my big break but little did I know I would be shelved for five years. After leaving that contract, I’ve been an independent artist, pushing my own music out of pocket. By day, I’m in writing sessions, and by night I was performing at venues, weddings, bars, restaurants, etc. (before the pandemic, of course). I went on tour and sing back up for PARTYNEXTDOOR and Jason Derulo. And now, I’m ready to release a lot of music that I’m excited about!

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am a soul/pop artist and I create everything from my heart. I’m known to make music that has a lot of meaning and depth. My music is honest, raw, hopeful, and healing. It’s music that makes people think about their life or the situation that their in with a little bit of perspective and hope like there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

My newest single Risky is my first song that is lighthearted and fun (not too deep or profound) because I also have a fun, chill side. I want to make music that makes people feel good and forget their worries as well.

As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
Success to me is when you have reached your fullest potential and are unapologetically walking and shining in your true calling. It’s not necessarily about how big your platform is (although many times that may come as a result).

It’s when you never gave up, learned from the failures, embraced who you were and didn’t compromise it when the world wanted you to do so and worked innovatively hard.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Spotify, YouTube, iTunes, Amazon, Instagram, and Facebook
