Today we’d like to introduce you to Envy.
Hi Envy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born in St. Joseph, Michigan. Raised in a one-stop-light small town named Watervliet/Hartford, Michigan. I grew up around music, whether it was karaoke or singing in the backseat of my mom’s car or in the recording studio with my dad watching him record a song. I was always in my room drawing a picture with headphones in listening to music, I always loved art as a whole. When I turned 18 I joined the military, I served in the U.S. Army, and while stationed in Louisiana, I started using my off time on garage band, messing with stuff, just trying to create. When I got out I worked a few different jobs, but the last job was Amazon as a delivery driver in Houston, TX. one day I said im gonna quit and give my all to music. so I quit, and I never looked back. Each month I would buy a new piece of studio equipment just trying to build my home studio. Like, one month a microphone (from a pawn shop) and headphones, then net month monitors, then next month interface for example. My lease was up, I decided to move to Los Angeles. Me and my friends couch surfed, until we got an apartment, and I setup a bedroom studio where I discovered my sound. From that point on ive been sharing my music.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some struggles are being far from home and family, dealing with homelessness, not being able to record because you have no where to do so, theres been many obstacles but you just keep going. Theres also times when the road is smooth and I appreciate it when it comes. Every struggle was a lesson learned.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
