Meet Ella M

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ella M.

Ella M is a British singer, songwriter and storyteller, who draws emotionally earnest inspiration from her own life experiences, ranging from the nuances of family and personal relationships to the trials and tribulations that come with pulling up roots and moving countries. Born in Henley-on-Thames, England, Ella picked up her life with family when she was just 11 years old, moved to New York, and now lives and performs locally in Los Angeles. Her experiences are conveyed through soulful vocals, underlined with jazz undertones, an apt metaphor for a resilient and upbeat approach to life as one of the “UK’s Top 50 Emerging Artists.” Genres reflected in Ella’s work include RnB, jazz and soul, with influences such as Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu and Amy Winehouse making themselves known in her track’s heartfelt and punchy lyrics. Singles from Ella’s debut EP Yellow Blazer, out October 30th, have received recognition from entertainment leaders such as Complex, Wonderland Magazine, EARMILK, FLAUNT, Grimy Goods, BBC Introducing, and Spotify’s “Fresh Finds,” playlist just to name a few. Ella M can also be found performing live at staple music venues around the West coast including but not limited to, The Hotel Cafe, The Standard and The Peppermint Club.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think, like any tough industry, this journey has been an uphill battle. Although it is hard along the way, it has never left me bored or hopeless. I love the industry I’m in and I wouldn’t trade it in for anything else <3

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love to perform. At the end of the day, performing is my main interest with songwriting as a close second. I am really proud of myself for writing and releasing my entire YELLOW BLAZER EP in October after living in LA for a year.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I will be releasing an entirely new project, single by single, at the top of next year and I can not wait to share it with everyone.
