Meet Elena Nicorici of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elena Nicorici.

Elena, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been writing since I was little, growing up in Moldova. My mom will tell you I was leaving my “autographs” on the walls before I could even read. Writing was just always there — in Romanian, in Russian, and eventually in English.

Over the years I filled notebook after notebook with poems and thoughts. Three years ago I finally decided it was time to do something with them. So I gathered fourteen years of writing and started putting together a collection. It took three years, a lot of doubt, a lot of editing, and a lot of life happening in between — including losing my Dad.

On September 9th, 2026 my first poetry collection Chapters: Poems, Prose and Inner Thoughts was published through my own imprint Seraphim Publishing. It’s dedicated to my brother Vladimir and my Dad — two men whose loss changed me forever.

Writing saved me. It still does.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth? No. Not even close. I came to the US as an immigrant and had to build everything from scratch. New country, new language, new life. There were hard financial times, heartbreaks I didn’t see coming, and losses that completely changed me.

I lost my brother eleven years ago. Last year I lost my Dad. That kind of grief — you don’t get over it. You just learn to carry it differently.

And on top of all that I’ve been pursuing acting, writing, and building a creative life all at the same time. People don’t always understand why you won’t just pick one thing. But I’ve never been just one thing.

Then there was always that little voice saying — who do you think you are? Nobody wants to read your poems. Nobody will cast you. That voice was probably the biggest obstacle of all.

But writing kept pulling me back. And acting. And my faith. And tango of all things. You find your lifelines wherever they are.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a poet, writer and actress. I specialize in the kind of writing that comes from real life — love, loss, grief, faith, survival. I don’t write to impress anyone. I write because it’s how I breathe.

My first poetry collection Chapters: Poems, Prose and Inner Thoughts was just published through my own imprint Seraphim Publishing. It was written across fourteen years and three languages — Romanian, Russian and English. That’s probably what sets me apart. My work carries multiple worlds inside it.

As an actress I’m drawn to complex, emotionally rich characters — the kind of roles that require you to go somewhere real inside yourself. Writing and acting feed each other for me. Both are about truth.

What am I most proud of? Finishing the book. Getting it out into the world even when the voice inside said nobody would care. And the fact that people are already reading it and finding themselves in those pages — that’s everything.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a shy kid. But books were my best friends from the very beginning. I was always reading, always in my own world.

Old black and white movies were a big part of my childhood too — there was something about that era that just spoke to me. Still does.

Then at 15 I saw Romeo and Juliet at the theatre and everything changed. I fell completely in love with the stage. That was the moment I knew — this is where I belong.

Growing up in Moldova, life was simple but rich in culture and warmth. Linden flower trees everywhere, my Dad’s stories, linden tea in the evenings. That world lives inside everything I write.

I was sensitive and felt things deeply. Writing became the place where I could put all of that — the shyness, the big feelings, the love for stories. It still is.
