Meet Danni Rogers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danni Rogers.

Danni, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m a navy brat born and bred in Portsmouth, VA. I’m also actually what you’d consider a late bloomer. I didn’t discover my passion for dance until my freshman year at Hampton University (The real HU) when I joined the dance crew “The Oracle”. I didn’t even know I could dance like that let alone want to. A few of us from the group considered moving to Atlanta to pursue our dance careers until Brandon Shaw (my big bro now), who was on tour with Chris Brown at the time, told us L.A. is where we need to be. Still unsure of myself I decided after graduation to move to Korea and teach English, I know, that took a completely different turn. My Oracle family (Quinetta “Q” Shaw, Day’nah Evans, Rob Rich, and Sean “Fresh” Redding) however all leaped LA before me.

After being in a new environment, alone, I realized that I had a dream yet realized. So after a year of teaching, which I enjoyed, I went straight to L.A. and off to work. Now, after ten years, I can say I’ve been truly blessed. I’ve been all over the world, performed for thousands of people, with some of the most amazing artists… And I’m just getting started. To top it off, I along with some other amazing young creatives started a collective and production company called R.O.A. (Royalty Over All). More from R.O.A. coming soon…

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There’s been a few setbacks and curveballs this past decade, like most artists trying to make it, all of which I’ve been able to overcome except for one, the loss of my younger brother. My brother died in a car accident on June 11, 2017. It was the worst day of my life, and to be honest, I struggle with it daily. The thing that I’ve learned from this heartache is to take time to truly enjoy the journey, and do it surrounded by the people you love; I am much stronger than I ever thought I was.

Please tell us about your work.
I’m a professional choreographer and dancer. My recent focus has been on artist development and creative direction. My goal is to make the artist reach their highest potential as well as have that spread throughout their life entirely. What sets me apart from others is that my mission isn’t just to create cool moves but to tell a story and bring music to life; that, in turn, will touch people in ways that can’t be quantified. The thing I’m most proud of is that in any situation I’ve been in dealing with the industry I’ve never had to comprise myself or my integrity for it.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Credit…. That’s something I’ve always wanted to make sure I give in real life but here are a few that have set me on the path I’m on today. First and foremost God. My family. My Oracle fam, in Cali and at Hampton University. The amazing dance studio that was my first training ground, Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio. The amazing teachers and choreographers that have taught me so much: Rob Peters(RIP), Phlex, Dacia James, Andye J, Kristin Lorello, Rob Rich, Jian, Tony Czar, Lee Daniel, Miguel Antonio, Lashaun Price, Dubz, Flii Stylez, Codie Wiggins and Calvit Hodge just to name a few. I have to give a special shoutout to my R.O.A.(which is an artist collective and our production company) brothers: B-Shaw, Randi Vision, Mac the Creator, and King Shaw. Last but certainly not least, my wife! She’s the Queen that I’m building my kingdom with and she’s my number one supporter, and I love her it… I know there are so many people I’ve missed. Some so many people have helped me along the way and I’m forever grateful.
