Meet Cosmic Force Comedy of Los Angeles, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cosmic Force Comedy.

Hi Cosmic Force Comedy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Lydia and I met during a class at The Groundlings school for comedic improv up in Los Angeles. We instantly clicked, and I loved performing with her in class. We had the same sense of humor, and not long after, we started creating sketches together. Cosmic Force officially began right before the COVID quarantine, when we had nothing but time, wigs, and too many weird character ideas.

In the beginning, we were writing long-form sketches, but as social media shifted and audiences’ attention spans shortened, we pivoted to short-form content. That change really opened things up for us. We started building a following by leaning into our love for history, theatre, and completely ridiculous characters and we realized there was a niche for what we were doing.

Since then, it’s been this wild ride of early morning filming sessions, era-specific costumes, and moments where we’re laughing so hard we can’t even get a decent take. What started as two friends trying to stay creative during a strange time has turned into something we’re really proud of.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road, but then again, what creative path ever is?

In the beginning, Doug and I were figuring everything out as we went. We didn’t have a team, budget, or a real plan. We just had our ideas, a tripod, and the hope that something would land. There were plenty of times we’d spend hours filming or editing something we thought was brilliant…only for it to get 200 views. That kind of thing can really mess with your confidence.

We’ve also faced serious burnout. Since we write, act, shoot, edit, and post everything ourselves, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Especially when trying to keep up with trends and algorithms. Then you’re adding in real-life jobs, auditions, and just, you know… being human, and it’s a lot.

But through all the chaos, we’ve learned how to trust our instincts, how to adapt quickly, and how to support each other through the rough patches. Comedy can be incredibly vulnerable, and putting yourself out there regularly is scary, but we’ve built something together that makes all the challenges worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We create short-form comedy content that blends modern humor with historical and theatrical flair. Think Jane Austen meets Gen Z, or ancient Rome but everyone’s in a situationship. We specialize in bite-sized sketches that are character-driven, absurd, and usually have some kind of unexpected twist. One of our most popular series revolves around “ridiculous ways women die in literature,” where Lydia dramatically collapses and dies for the most unhinged reasons while Doug looks on in horror. It’s niche. It’s chaotic. It’s very us.

We both come from acting and comedy backgrounds, so we bring a theatrical lens to everything. The costumes, the delivery, the physicality. We love playing with time periods, over-the-top characters, and oddly poetic one-liners that somehow still feel relatable. And we’re deeply involved in every part of the process: writing, filming, editing, marketing…100%, all of it.

What we’re most proud of is that we’ve built a world. It’s not just random sketches–there’s a voice, a tone, a rhythm that people recognize as “Cosmic Force.” And what sets us apart is that we don’t chase trends just to chase them. We take what’s trending and reshape it into something that feels like us. It’s a little theatrical, a little unhinged, and always rooted in friendship.

What are your plans for the future?
We have a lot of big dreams for Cosmic Force! Right now, we’re focused on growing our presence across platforms and building out our content library, not just with more sketches, but with series that deepen the world we’ve created. We’re exploring ways to bring our characters into new formats: longer episodic content, live shows, and even scripted projects for TV or streaming potentially.

One of our biggest goals? We’d love to star in our own Netflix show someday: something that captures our chaotic sense of humor, theatrical style, and love of time-period storytelling with a modern twist. Think “if Bridgerton and SNL had a weird little baby and raised it in a drama class.”

We’re also hoping to collaborate with brands, production companies, and fellow creators who vibe with our sense of humor and storytelling style. There’s talk of merch in the future too (because who wouldn’t want an “OnlyAnkles” or “literature kills” tote bag?).

Most of all, we’re looking forward to continuing to challenge ourselves creatively. Pushing boundaries, experimenting with new ideas, and growing this from a comedy duo into a full-fledged comedy brand. We’re just getting started, and we’re really excited for what’s next.
