Today we’d like to introduce you to Corrine (Corri) Fields.
Corrine (Corri), we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Surving South Central LA in the 90’s, a time when gang culture was a way of life wasn’t easy. If it didn’t kill you it made you stronger. I’ve seen families torn apart, I experienced losing friends left and right to gang violence where making it out was not an option. I was young, ambitious, smart, determined, and very strong willed. Those experiences taught me valuable lessons such as what to value. Im one the most resourceful people known in the community, but I never thought to take credit for any of it. I didn think theres was any meritt in just being myself. I now see the importance I have in others lives, and I’m honored to see the impact that Ive made over the years.
My father was an entreprenuer so I got it honestly, my drive that is. I remember going to work with my dad. Joy sporouting from how I was able to help his customers. By the age of 15, I wanted to make my own money. In the summer I would braid hair, and clean homes. By my senior year at Crenshaw HS, I began offering childcare services. As a true product of my environment, I became the connect or plug as they say. My journey of self discovery took me down a long road, but along the way I found my tribe. By finally understanding my purpose, I was able to reinvent myself and create something positive in my life that has impacted thousand of lives in my community. Redifining my reason for being the connect, I founded Kinect and Enrich.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a single mother or two, obstacles were apart of my daily life. Ive been homeless, and a victim of domestic violence. I suffered with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and anger management. The traumas of my childhood abuse affected my life choices and had a hold on me, which I didnt like, so I chose to do something about it,
Finding your purpose and sticking to it is the struggle. Your mental, physical and financial health, are key if you think you’re going to succeed as a self made woman in business. Success has so much to do with your personal wellbeing. When I got better so did my business. Maintaining a healthy work life balance was essential. Lets face the facts a black woman in America, pursuing her childhood dreams, is a struggle within itself, when you dare to be brave you face a unique set of challenges.
