Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Perez.
Hi Claudia , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I became a herbal and holistic healer after life knocked me down. Hard. I used to be a daycare provider with a beautiful prek school giving my services to over 20 families who became my family.
But when I was at the top of my game, divorce and legalities forced me to leave everything behind. I was forced to walk away from the life I knew and felt safe with and start from zero scared and without resources.
At the same time, my health was being very challenging due to CPTSD and fibromyalgia. Modern medicine was not helping and my mental health was in shambles.
Alone with two teenagers and forced to make the best of every day for the good of everyone involved I started treating my own illnesses with my grandmas recipes. First tinctures, then ointments, then teas, and everything was giving me amazing results.
As time went on, people who had witnessed me at my sickest began to notice something remarkable: I was slowly finding my way back to health. They started asking what I was doing differently, what remedies I was using, and how I was healing. Little by little, they began asking me to share those remedies and help them on their own wellness journeys.
And from those humble beginnings, Haunted ‘N Holy was born.
What started as a small herbal remedy business became so much more than I ever imagined. In many ways, Haunted ‘N Holy saved me.
There was a time when I had lost my beloved business and felt as though I had nothing left to build with. But I still had something invaluable: the wisdom, knowledge, and traditions my grandmother had entrusted to me. Her legacy became my foundation, and through it, I found a second chance.
I began with the remedies she had passed down to me, carefully honoring her teachings while slowly adding my own discoveries to our family book of remedies.
My passion for natural healing continued to grow. I immersed myself in the fascinating world of mycology, learning to cultivate medicinal mushrooms such as Lion’s Mane, Reishi, and Turkey Tail. I also returned to school, earning certifications in herbal medicine and phytotherapy to deepen my knowledge and expand what I could offer.
What began as a personal journey of healing gradually blossomed into a small business rooted in ancestral wisdom, love, and purpose.
We started by participating in local pop-ups and markets, sharing our handcrafted remedies and connecting with people who believed in a more holistic approach to wellness. One customer, one conversation, and one market at a time, Haunted ‘N Holy began to grow.
Today, my dream is to take Haunted ‘N Holy even further.
I envision our carefully crafted products finding a home on the shelves of boutique produce markets, herbal shops, and wellness stores. I hope to expand into wholesale partnerships, allowing us to bring our herbal and mushroom-based wellness products to more communities.
But no matter how much we grow, the heart of Haunted ‘N Holy will always remain the same: a grandmother’s wisdom, a second chance at life, and the belief that something beautiful can grow from even our most difficult seasons.
What began as my own journey back to wellness has become a way to share the legacy that helped me find my way forward.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s being extremely challenging to start from zero when I already had a life where I thought I had it all figured out.
Then, educating people along the way because many times, they are not used to accept herbal remedies with the same ease as western medicine.
It’s being challenging to start a brand new enterprise and give it exposure when some spaces for markets are overpriced. Which means lots of work, no retribution or not even exposure to your product if the organizations don’t promote events. Which leaves you with empty pockets, and also no promotion at all.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work is deeply rooted in ancestral wisdom, herbal medicine, and the belief that reconnecting with nature can be a beautiful part of our journey toward wellness.
As a certified shamanic practitioner and herbalist, I am incredibly honored to carry forward healing traditions that have been passed down through generations. Through my business, Haunted ‘N Holy, I specialize in handcrafted herbal remedies, medicinal mushroom cultivation, and holistic wellness practices that honor the connection between mind, body, and spirit.
My journey began with the knowledge my grandmother entrusted to me. She left behind more than recipes and remedies; she gave me a foundation of wisdom, resilience, and respect for the natural world. Today, I have the privilege of preserving that knowledge while continuing to build upon it through my own education, research, and hands-on experience.
One of my greatest passions, and certainly one of my proudest accomplishments, has been learning the art and science of mycology. Over the past year, I have dedicated myself to cultivating medicinal mushrooms such as Lion’s Mane, Reishi, and Turkey Tail. There is something incredibly rewarding about nurturing these organisms from the very beginning, watching them grow, and eventually transforming that harvest into thoughtfully crafted wellness products.
Mycology has opened an entirely new world for me. It has challenged me, humbled me, and inspired me to continue learning. Every successful harvest feels like a small victory, and every challenge teaches me something new. It has become one of the most meaningful parts of my work.
What sets Haunted ‘N Holy apart is the personal connection behind everything we create. Our products are not simply inspired by traditions I have studied; they are rooted in the practices I grew up with, the knowledge passed down by my grandmother, and my own journey of rediscovering wellness. I combine that ancestral foundation with formal education in herbal medicine and phytotherapy, along with my growing experience in mycology.
I take great pride in our small-batch approach, the care that goes into our handcrafted products, and the intention behind every remedy. For me, this work has never been just about selling products. It is about preserving knowledge, sharing traditions responsibly, and encouraging people to develop a deeper relationship with their own well-being and the natural world.
But what makes me proudest of all is knowing that this story will not end with me.
I am continuing to add my own discoveries, experiences, and formulations to our family’s book of herbal medicine, the very book that began with my grandmother’s wisdom. My greatest hope is to one day place that book in my children’s hands, filled not only with the knowledge I inherited but also with everything I have learned along the way.
I want them to inherit more than a business. I want them to inherit a living legacy of curiosity, compassion, perseverance, and respect for the gifts of nature.
To me, that is my greatest accomplishment: taking the wisdom of the generations before me, nurturing it with my own hands, and creating something meaningful for the generations yet to come.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
People always gets surprised when I tell them I am actually a therapist. Specialized in language and emotional development on children.
I have a postgraduate degree on Human Communication in Mexico and people never expects that from a Shaman and herbal healer.
