Today we’d like to introduce you to Cinthya Quezada.
Cinthya, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I use to work for a couple of fashion manufacturers in downtown LA, after I closed my first business “Clash” that I opened shortly after graduating college, I realized that I didn’t have the experience I needed to sustain the business, so I looked for entry-level jobs in different areas of the production side to learn the whole process from trend forecast to shipment, after a few years of working for these companies I kept thinking about relaunching my brand, but this time I named Cinthy Q this was in 2015, but I didn’t fully focused on it until 2017 when I got my first break producing collections for a big company.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been smooth, there were times where I wanted to quit because I wasn’t getting the orders I needed to keep the company’s expenses afloat, there were times that I had to find random gigs to be able to pay for production and bills. Right before I got my first opportunity I was about to quit and start applying for jobs again, Alex my boyfriend told me to wait and to keep focusing on it, and soon enough the orders started coming in, I still remember the anxiety of not been able to sell the collection on time, but I learned that consistency and persistence are key in this business.
Please tell us about Cinthy Q.
Cinthy Q is a manufacturer of women’s contemporary clothing, its aesthetic is eclectic bohemian, we specialize in making clothes from recycled materials, we compromise our profit to be able offer our customers quality items at affordable prices. What I’m most proud is that we partnered with other small businesses like ours to handle our shipping and production, we understand that these companies all minority-owned also have the same dream as ours to succeed and provide for their families.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I’d have plan of action, everything that has happened to Cinthy Q has been through trial and error, I feel like maybe if I would’ve asked for advise and have a plan I could’ve avoided a lot of headaches.
