Meet Christine Moore of Little Flower in Pasadena

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Moore.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started making salty caramels out of my house in highland park almost 20 years ago. 10 years ago, I opened Little Flower in Pasadena making fresh pastries and soups, salads and sandwiches. 3 years ago, I opened Lincoln!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing is ever a smooth road but I have the most amazing staff and most wonderful customers. We all really love what we do and being together and I believe at both restaurants we really try to provide fresh food and a sense of community!

Please tell us about Little Flower.
My businesses are small. Both restaurants are pastry driven and provide fresh breakfast and lunch, coffee and grad and go dinner and fresh breads. At Little Flower we are well known for our caramels and marshmallows all made in house.

I think what would set me apart from others is that we are very family friendly work environment. I provide benefits for staff at Little Flower and are working towards that at Lincoln. I believe my staff needs to be flexible and that taking care of your family is the most important. I have been a single mother for 10 years and my staff has allowed me the graces needed to be a single working Mom and I feel strongly about providing that for them.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Vacationing on the Jersey Shore and going to the fudge store, watching the process and getting salt water taffy!
