Meet Christie Walker of Christie Walker Hair in Orange County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christie Walker.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my career in the beauty industry because of a passion for fashion, beauty, and people that started at age six. After graduating from cosmetology school, I immediately started assisting at a very prestigious salon in Orange County. Part of my training was an extensive understanding of Toni & Guy haircuts and countless color and product lines, including Schwarzkopf, L’Oréal, Redken, Wella, and Paul Mitchell. Within three years of beginning my thorough apprenticeship, I started finding my sweet spot behind the chair.

I am constantly improving my craft when it comes to hair color, cut, and treatment techniques. I have attended countless educational courses, including a hair cutting course at Bumble & Bumble University in New York and a private class with Oribe himself; and have even been able to become an expert with many color and product lines.

As a lifetime local in Huntington Beach, I’m always finding ways to give back and make an impact in my community through donating haircuts and products, as well as partnering with other local salons. I specialize in creative color, long and soft layered haircuts, balayage, and have a knack for blondes.

I truly love my guests and I’m always striving to find new and creative ways to make their experience the best possible. Part of the experience with Christie Walker Hair is the environment I have created with my private suite in Orange County.

Has it been a smooth road?
As with any business, it’s always crucial to ensure that your product or service stands out. With beauty in particular, I’d say the biggest struggle is finding a way to stand out in such an oversaturated industry. Finding the balance of work that speaks for itself, an intriguing social media presence, and family life is constantly on my mind.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a hair-stylist. I specialize in creative color, long and soft layered haircuts, balayage, and I have a knack for blondes. The thing that sets me apart from others is the ability to do timeless cuts and color, while still staying relevant with today’s trends. A guest telling me, “This is exactly what I dreamed of. It’s like you read my mind.” is one of my favorite things I hear on a regular basis.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Orange County is a great place to start out if you’re willing to take advantage of assisting or apprenticing. There is a lot of amazing talent out there in our industry and it’s important to learn from some of the pros before heading off on your own venture.
