Meet Chris Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Williams.

Chris “SlickThePoet” Williams

Hi Chris, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
At first, it all started with me doing talent shows. Where I performed and dance to music by Michael Jackson or Chris Brown. After being an entertainer and having a lil stage presence, I started writing music. I started doing poetry, and then I would put it within my music. I felt like it gave me a voice. Something people can look forward to. Words that moved the people when they hear it. I knew music was for me, the way it changes your emotion and the way you feel it within your soul. I wanted people to feel the music the way I feel music.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest thing I had to get over was leaving my daughter behind. This path comes with sacrifices, and this road gets super lonely. This road has been a rocky one. Long nights of sleeping in my car to find different places so I can record my music. Following the dream when no one but you believe. Moments to where I get calls about my father passing away and I can’t make it back to New Orleans in time to say my last goodbyes. Throughout the adversity, I still overcome and manage to be the best father and artist I can be. Even when it gets hard, I keep pushing and keep going. The world must feel my story just like they hear it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
They should know I am 100 percent a father and 100 percent a musical 100 artist. I put my all into this, and I give it my all. I just wanted to show the world peace and love throughout my music. Right now, I am focused on giving the world these 2 albums I am working on. This amazing poem called “Mirrors,” and I just want the world to reflect with me on my up-and-coming projects. I’m focused on finding a permanent leaving situation out here in California and a permanent place to record my music.

Any big plans?
The plan doesn’t change. I have a children’s book on the way called “Daddy’s Home” that me and my daughter did together. I’m more than just a musician and I want people to know that. I want to write books and scripts for movies, and I also would like to give a shot at acting. My journey has just begun.
