Meet Chad Watson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chad Watson.

Chad, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
At twelve years old, I was reluctantly enrolled at a music conservatory, held on the campus of l.a.c.e.s in west l.a. There I studied music theory, was taught how to read and compose music and was classically trained on the piano. Going to middle school Monday through Friday, at a Music Conservatory on Saturday mornings, and then in Sunday school at church on Sunday mornings, I was young and annoyed at my schedule so I didn’t appreciate these things until much later. About a decade later, through a series of serendipitous events I was able to meet an up-and-coming producer. This was my first musical relationship that was cultivated and helped mold me into the music creator I am today. An unexpected and extremely rare relationship flourished out of that connection. I was able to record several thousand hours of musical content for free which was the reason I was able to develop my craft and hone my skills before getting to larger productions and recording studios.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The blessings continued, through this ongoing relationship a gentleman by the name of demo would come to my studio sessions and vibe. After a while, he would eventually become my manager. We met and he decided to take a gamble on me. Executive producing my first music video, he provided an opportunity for me to meet directors other producers engineers and larger Studios. This music video now has thousands of views on YouTube, hundreds of likes, virtually no dislikes (exceedingly rare) dozens of comments and receives interaction daily. From there, I developed my own press kit, using that to book myself and achieve everything that I have. I am now found in major magazines, several radio media, Dash radio, and do performances weekly all throughout the state and sometimes out of state. With no investors and professional Management, my never-give-up spirit has been the sole reason I have been able to keep going and achieve all these things. My plan is to give back to the community that helped me succeed. I’d like to be a philanthropist and entrepreneur giving opportunities to creatives just like me.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a writer, musical composer, recording artist, and classically trained musician. I specialize in seamlessly meshing eclectic styles of hip hop in my musical delivery. I have been blessed enough to accomplish several things in which I cannot pick one in particular to be my favorite. I feel like my live performances and general take on music has a unique and distinct approach that resonates with the listeners and audience.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I’d like to remain humble, so it is very difficult for me to pick my proudest moment. But if I had to pick one it might be winning the artist showcase for Backwoods cigars for Los Angeles.
