Today we’d like to introduce you to Cecile Rivoire.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Cecile. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my business by designing evening gowns. There was a need for me to have a store, so I decided to carry bridal and bridesmaids and mother of the
bride dresses as well. This has been my business for the past 14 years. I am planning to open another store in Glendale, CA since most of my customers are from the Los Angeles area. I have joined an American Wedding Center, offering all services for a wedding.
I love people and dresses and have passion for designing one of a kind dresses as well as offering other designer gowns.
My trademark is “Madame De Soir” and I have one of my designs featured in the California Wedding Day Magazine for the winter of 2016 and spring of 2017.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles were, I used to purchase dresses by attending bridal and evening gown market shows. The downfall of that was, I spent way too much money to buy their dresses (Minimum usually 10 a season), whereas I only liked two of their dresses. Over the years, I realized I am working way too hard for selling other designers’ dresses. So I started buying less and doing custom made (only for bridal gowns and mother of the brides). Every business needs to have a large amount of money set aside for promotion, and provide the best service, which is the key to success. Bridesmaids collections are more reasonably priced, so I limit my business expenditure on buying those dresses instead.
Please tell us about Cecile Rivoire’s.
I do mainly bridesmaids dresses, bridal (custom-made) and specialize in mother of the bride/groom dresses. I think if I don’t treat every person that walks into my store like my own child, I am in the wrong business. Customers should feel confident that you are not trying to overcharge them. By keeping my prices fair, I am able to even compete with online businesses.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Admiring well-dressed people.
Pricing:
- My prices for bridal gowns are $1500 to $3500 and for the bridesmaids usually below $200
