Today we’d like to introduce you to Cayla Renee’.

Cayla Renee’, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Drip Swimwear was created out of my desire to find one swimsuit that did my three favorite things: make me look good, make me feel good, and gave me options. My desire from the very beginning with this design was to capture the confidence that a woman feels when she’s wearing an outfit that she feels good in, and I think I’ve done just that. In 2021, I will be celebrating eight years in business and I think one of the key reasons my business has survived this long is because I dedicated myself to revolutionizing the perception of the “perfect body”, taking the term from self-limiting to all-inclusive by embracing as many different body types as I can. And I have never given up on the idea that my product creates the look and feel of confidence for any woman that chooses to wear it.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road for many reasons, one of them being that the path to entrepreneurship is just so unpredictable and challenging. I think one of the toughest struggles for me has been realizing that I chose a path that not a lot of others were willing to take, especially at such a young age, and because I chose the path less traveled, there was no blueprint for me to follow. I learned to embrace not always having guidance in my business decisions by leaning on my intuition, but It can definitely be lonely, frustrating, and discouraging sometimes to not have the same “rulebook” or access to people who have experienced what I’m experiencing.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Drip Swimwear – what should we know?
I named my company Drip Swimwear because of the way the fabric used for the design drapes or “drips” over your body, like dripping water. The Drip suit is one suit that can be tied and styled six different ways. It is essentially two long pieces of fabric that transform into a suit based on the look and amount of coverage you prefer. There are three body type offerings: petite, curvy, and plus. These offerings are simply different lengths/widths of the same suit fabric. Each purchase includes a video tutorial to teach you how to master each style that I’ve created for the suit. I specialize in swimwear for curvier woman, although my product creates a tailored look for woman of all body types within the 0-18 size range. I am most proud that I have been able to encourage body positivity for my customers through my product. Self-love is weaved into my product and branding and I’ve been able to stay true to that every year by capturing inclusivity with the unique models I choose. Drip Swimwear should be set apart from other swimwear brands because When you own Drip Swimwear, you can be confident that you are always ready for swimsuit season. Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Drip could not have made it to eight years in business without the help of my friends, family, and most importantly my amazing customers. I was a 22 years old college student when I created Drip Swim, and I certainly had no idea how far the idea would take me. My mom and three best friends were my biggest support system in laying the foundation for Drip Swim. My mom let me turn our living room into my first storefront because she believed in my product and saw my vision. My three best friends, Brittany, Brianna, and Keyon did everything from planning my schedule, being my first models, creating my first marketing plans, helping to develop my first business plans, on top of being there for every moment I wanted to just give up or break down.

I feel like these are the people that helped lay the pavement for the type of businesswoman I am and the type of business I run, they were the first to believe and invest sweat equity in me and my vision. Staying true to my path, I also earned a new advocate and friend who has grown to be significant in the rebirth of Drip Swimwear. My friend Mac has also played a huge role in the success of my business by taking me on as one of her first clients, and showing me the importance of team building, rebranding my company image, and investing in myself to help my business.
