Today we’d like to introduce you to Cate Beauman.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My tale started nearly nine years ago when I discovered my gift for storytelling. In 2010, I received an out-of-the-blue “Universal download” that it was part of my destiny to create works of art that weaved love and danger together in fantastic stories.
I had absolutely no idea how to develop characters and plots or create story arcs, yet the instinct to follow through was so strong that I dove in headfirst, fully trusting that this was part of my path.
Two years after learning and perfecting my craft, the first three novels of The Bodyguards Of L.A. County series were ready for publishing. As a rebel at heart, I never had any desire to follow the traditional publishing route and deal with “big house” politics, so in October 2012, I uploaded my edited files onto the major publishing venues, and to my astonishment, the books were Amazon bestsellers forty-eight hours later. Over the next five years, I went on to publish nine more full-length novels, won multiple awards, created a worldwide fanbase of happy readers, and burnt myself out to the point of emotional and physical exhaustion.
I’d had several warning signs that I was pushing myself too hard during that five-year period. I started losing my hair, cried more often than I didn’t, had chronic heart palpitations, struggled with emotional eating, and my daily productivity had gone down the toilet. With each new novel I wrote, it took me longer and longer to tell the story—and I started hating my once-beloved gift.
Little did I know that my years of struggle and suffering were part of the bigger plan. After working with a life coach, I discovered that my endless drive to succeed was hiding deep, dark fears—mostly that who I was wasn’t enough. This epiphany literally changed my life and offered such deep healing that I’ve since gone back to school so that I can help others on their own healing journeys. I’m now a Certified Transformational Nutrition Coach with Specializations in Weight Loss, Mental Health, and Emotional Eating. I’m also a Certified Emotional Freedom Techniques Practitioner.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Any new journey has its ups and downs. Moving away from my writing career into this new venture has certainly had its challenges, particularly when my philosophies around health, wellness, and weight loss contradict the cultural norms.
But I’ve never been one to give up easily. I believe in my message, and I know that part of my purpose on this planet is to help others understand that emotions and unhealed pain from the past play a huge role in our current behaviors and choices, especially when it comes to how we talk to ourselves, nourish ourselves on and off the plate, and affect our beliefs about what is possible for us. If you can dream it, you can do it, but sometimes we need to work through our “stuff” and tweak our mindsets and habits to get the results we’re striving toward.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a Certified Transformational Nutrition Coach with Specializations in Weight Loss, Mental Health, and Emotional Eating. I’m also a Certified Emotional Freedom Techniques Practitioner. One of my deepest passions is helping women rediscover self-love, practice self-care, heal from their past, and finally make peace with their feelings and food.
I coach women (men are welcome too) through my twelve-week Boldly You Premium Power Package, where the two of us work as a team to create and reach unique weight loss and big-picture goals. I also offer an EFT/Tapping program that helps rebalance the body’s energy system and accelerate emotional healing.
What I’m most proud of and what sets me apart from traditional weight loss programs is that I focus on the whole person. Typical diet culture has a one-size-fits-all approach and focuses on surface issues: calorie counting, exercise, a number on the scale, and following a specific diet—and this is why so many struggle to achieve real, lasting results. There is so much more at play when someone is holding on to extra weight. When I work with a client, we look at goal setting and lifestyle recreation; self-love, self-care, and spiritual nourishment; stress reduction and sleep; emotional eating triggers; healing past pain and negative core beliefs; and discovering the foods and physical activity that work for their individual needs. Each one of us is wonderfully unique, which means we need a plan tailored just for us that we have a hand in creating.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moments as a facilitator of healing often follow an EFT/Tapping session. It’s always gratifying and fascinating to literally see healing taking place before my eyes. It has been my greatest honor to watch women who have struggled for years with the residue of their past traumas move beyond their private shame, anger, and grief and literally transform into powerful, unstoppable versions of who they came to this Earth to be. They have an entirely different presence about them by the time we finish our work together. It just doesn’t get any better than that!
