Meet Cammi Bright of Bright Spot Productions in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cammi Bright.

The talented vibrant Camille Bright, also known as Cammi Bright, is a native of South Carolina. Camille knew from a young age that entertaining was her passion. At eighteen, a courageous Cammi with dreams of making it big decided to move to New York City after she was offered a scholarship to The New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts. Cammi spent four wonderful years gaining experience in the big city, where she booked multiple commercials and off Broadway plays. After booking her first feature film, “Our Idiot Brother,” alongside Paul Rudd she felt confident as an actress and decided to step out on faith and take her talents to Los Angeles, CA.

While busy pursuing her budding acting career, Camille was introduced to a music executive who loved her look and natural ability to entertain. He later asked her to be apart of a girl group. The girl group had a successful three years run but did not continue. Once the girls parted ways Cammi decided to continue her journey as a solo artist. She took time to go through artist development working with vocal coaches, new producers, choreographers, and learning the art of songwriting. Once Cammi felt comfortable as a solo artist, she started recording her own music. Cammi has now released three singles on all music streaming platforms and has had three major TV placements for her sultry R&B song, “Playhouse.” You can also watch Cammi as Triva, a series regular on UMC’s hit drama, “A House Divided.”

Tapping into her girl-boss entrepreneur role, Cammi recently partnered with Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter David Je’ to open a recording studio in Van Nuys, CA called D2R Studios, which stands for, Dreams to Reality. Cammi is also the owner of the budding production company, “Bright Spot Productions.”

Has it been a smooth road?
I would say it’s mostly been a smooth road for me because I chose to love the journey. But I would be lying if didn’t say there have been some bumps along the way. Like most people pursuing a big dream, it gets hard to stay confident and believe in yourself after constant rejection, broken promises and overdrawn bank accounts. I’ve always been a hustler, so I won’t complain, but it doesn’t mean it was easy, but I will say it has all been worth it! I believe the struggle is where you build the character that will help you sustain in this industry.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I like to call myself a girl boss, so I currently have a few irons in the fire. My first and main business is my Cammi Bright brand. I am a triple threat, I act, sing, and dance. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to a paid professional in the area of arts and entertainment for 10years now. I was recently able to be a true triple threat on the TV series, “A House Divided.” where I was able to have my music placed in the scene that I acted and danced in. I’m very fortune for moments where I am able to use all of my talents in one.

As an actress of color, I have often seen a lack of opportunity and inclusion of women in the entertainment industry, so I decided to start my own production company, “Bright Spot Productions.” The goal for “Bright Spot Productions” is to create quality original content that creates more jobs for women and people of color. The motto of “Bright Spot Productions” is to be your own spotlight and brighten up every room you walk into. There is so much darkness in the world, so be the light!

In addition to my personal production company, I am co-owner of the recording studio, D2R Studios (Dreams to Reality) We offer affordable studio time as well as full music production. We specialize in music production and songwriting for up and coming and major artist. We also offer artist development plans for new artists. As a company, we pride ourselves in truly caring for the artist and the quality of work they release. The music industry can be hard, so we create a safe place for artist to be their authentic selves and feel comfortable to let that shine through the music we create together.

My other passion that I turned into a business is, cooking. Catch me on “Kickin it In Cammi’s Kitchen” on my Youtube channel. I specialize in teaching people how to make quick, tasty snacks and meals.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I believe in and hope for a positive shift in all the industries I work in. In the acting world, I would like to see more women and people of color in leading roles and behind the scenes. In the music industry, I would like to see artist owning their masters and taking more control over their careers. I believe the shift comes with knowledge and awareness. I have confidence that there will be a positive shift because I do see a lot more aware artists these days. We have to be the change we want to see. I believe there is a movement of woke artists, including myself who are determined to make a change.
