Meet Brooke DeRosa’s Music

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke DeRosa.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Brooke. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I was younger, I was completely engrossed in the world of film scores. The work of John Williams, James Horner, and many other great composers inspired me to begin writing my own compositions.

I decided to leave NY and move to LA, the center of the film industry. It was here that I performed live as both an opera singer, and a punk guitarist. Gigs at the Whisky A Go were to soon be followed by Puccini arias in concert halls throughout the LA area.

After performing with many opera companies such as Pacific Opera Project, I decided to pen my own opera, The Monkey’s Paw which was premiered in 2017. Now I am working on many shows to be released in 2018.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The life of any musician is never straight and rarely smooth. The early days of any music career are a struggle to balance the artistic and the practical. In other words, how to pay your bills while auditioning and performing.

All the ups and downs do have a profound effect on appreciating what you have. I am grateful for all the challenges. Many times, when one door closes, a better door opens soon after.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Brooke DeRosa Music – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am happy to say that I have quite varied specializations. In addition to performing Punk Music and classical opera, I have had a long and praised DJ career. My love of Hip Hop and other forms of music allows me to compose with these influences together in unusual ways. I am currently working on several very different operas; some are completely traditional, and some have orchestra over beats, pre-recorded electronics and other non-traditional ideas.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I have several exciting projects in the works. Unfortunately, I can’t go into further detail at this time as they are in various stages of development.

Some of my previous projects are now expanding to international stages such as my Aria for Alice in Wonderland entitled “Off with Their Heads!”.
