Today we’d like to introduce you to Brigitte Tolson.

Brigitte, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began my journey in esthetics joining forces with a friend to start a day spa in Palm Springs, CA over 15 years ago. I wanted to expand my business and explore my passion for helping people’s skin, so I eventually moved back to Los Angeles and pursued being a facialist as well as becoming a cosmetic surgery technician full time.

I have been fortunate enough to serve clients at the best spas, cosmetic surgery and dermatology practices in Los Angeles for over a decade, as well as be featured in Best of Allure Magazine and a Best of CitySearch Winner.

My focus and passion is holistic medical grade skin care, with an emphasis on ayurveda. I only work with dye, fragrance, and paraben free product lines that source food grade botanicals and ingredients in small batches to assure freshness and safety.

I find helping people look their best, and educating clients about their skin to be a truly rewarding career, and I hope to help more and more people achieve their skin health goals while having a relaxing uplifting experience in a uniquely tranquil space in West LA with koi ponds, waterfalls, and quiet surroundings.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have been fortunate enough to see more and more clients each year, but I am always conscious of the need to ever evolve, learn, and innovate. I make a point to attend the major esthetic and spa conferences every year, and seek out continuing education. I also try every new professional quality product that comes out, because the skin care industry is constantly changing, and it’s so important to stay up to date on the latest formulations and trends, even if I won’t intend to incorporate them into my practice. I believe you are never done learning, and you are never too great to fail, so I am always trying to improve my work.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Brigitte Tolson Skincare & Esthetics – what should we know?
I am a medical esthetician with over 15 years experience specializing in cystic acne, nutrition, advanced peels, holistic skin care, sun damage, anti-aging and beyond.

My treatments are all entirely customized to each client because much of what we use is a freshly mixed blend of herbs and botanicals for their specific concerns. I include complete extractions. all necessary peels, microdermabrasion, as well as foot, face, and arm massage in each treatment. I also focus on nutrition, herbs, diet, and lifestyle as it applies to my client’s concerns, because your skin is both a system and organ, and I believe you should treat it on the inside with nutrients as well as the outside with products and treatments.

I am proud of my focus on creating a relaxing experience while focussing primarily on results. I believe you can be pampered in the same treatment that takes years off your skin.

I owe so much to my mentor Mirela Marinescu, who founded the International School of Beauty in Palm Desert. She has educated literally thousands of estheticians, dermatologists, and plastic surgeons about advanced skin care, and is one of the kindest, most motivating people you’d care to meet.
