Meet Brian Swope of RE/MAX Estate Properties

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Swope.

Brian, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in Southern California and after high school, I entered the US Army and then decided to go to college out of state and attended The Ohio State University. In my junior year of college, I started working in the banking industry selling second mortgages over the phone and I quickly realized that I liked to talk to people and help them achieve their financial dreams. When I graduated I started as a full-time loan officer and eventually opened my own mortgage company as well as several other real estate related companies. When the economic recession was on the horizon I sold my companies and started doing more rehabbing of properties and real estate sales. Eventually, an old friend of mine living in California reached out to me and said that I should move back, eventually I got tired of shoveling snow in a suit and tie so here I am.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Living in the Midwest, I knew everyone in the real estate field and they knew me so when I moved back here to California it was like starting over with no contacts, no leads, etc. but eventually I got out there and started meeting more and more people and started getting involved with more network groups and with the right people.

Please tell us about RE/MAX Estate Properties.
I work for RE/MAX Estate Properties and we are one of the largest and most successful brokerages in the United States. I work with buyers, sellers and investors. I really enjoy helping the first time home buyers especially veterans get into to a home because they are truly grateful. One of the other things that I really like is when you can structure or negotiate a deal and it gets accepted. I would say that the thing that sets me apart from other agents is communication, I will return phone calls and emails and will always keep my clients updated on all of the things going on with their sale or purchase,

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I used to love going on camping trips and spending time outdoors, when I grew up we did not have cell phones, cable TV or too many video games so kids went outside to play. I wish that more kids would just go outside and explore and use their imaginations.
