Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Anthony.
Brandon, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2009, New Orleans native & Founder & CEO, Brandon Anthony, moved to LA to pursue his passion for acting in film. While trying to survive the avenues of Los Angeles, he wanted to build a product that will help him stay above waters. While enjoying the nightlife from time to time, he discovered that there were no avenues for Black gay men of color to fellowship and celebrate their uniqueness as a black gay men. So, he decided to create a company in nightlight entertainment industry. And that is where B.A.S.H LA was born, Brandon Anthony’s Socialite House.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have to honestly say the journey has been a bit bumpy, but nothing overwhelming. But at an early age, I accepted the reality that good things do not come easy. I learned that the challenges I have faced reflected the history of misrepresentation we as community received in the past. And I rarely take things personal from people I don’t know personally. So it was a matter of being persistent and consistent with my brand. And once that bridge was crossed, it has been a lovely journey.
Please tell us about B.A.S.H LA.
B.A.S.H LA (Brandon Anthony’s Socialite House) is a premiere Los Angeles/ Hollywood Entertainment Group. Host, performers, and special appearances have included NeNe Leakes, Karrauche Tran, Kelly Rowland, Ciara, Liberty Bell, Jeremy Scott, Brandy, Salt N Pepa, Jussie Smollett, and many others. BASH LA produces LA’s Black Gay Pride held every year during the 4th of July Weekend as well as co-coordinates the LA PRIDE Festival. Prior to the cover 19 pandemic, we were attracting over 1,000 patrons weekly at events such as “CLSQ” at Chapel At The Abbey & “Starboy” at RAGE Nightclub, this has made BASH LA a staple in LA’s LGBT nightlife. BASH LA continues to use their platform to build community partnerships and provide platforms advocating on social issues impacting the Black LGBT community, namely the disproportionate impacts of HIV and mental health amongst Black gay men.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have started sooner.
