Today we’d like to introduce you to Atila.
Atila, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?I am a Hollywood born Hungarian hairdresser serving a diverse clientele in Beverly Hills for over 20 years. I grew up around the film and music industry and split my time between the beach, mountains and in Transylvania during the summers.
I started off assisting on stage and working part time back when I was a motorcycle mechanic and bit the bullet switching to full time in 1997.
My work can be seen on the street, screen, and stage around the world. When I am not behind the chair or on-set I can be found running, riding, surfing, climbing, skiing and competing in endurance events in my Southern California backyard.
Has it been a smooth road?Smooth? I’m not sure what that is, I’ve always had to hustle and work for my money. That said my job is mostly fun. There certainly are days that are more challenging, be that because of a client, a production, a team issue, but I always enjoy the day by the end.
During the financial crisis, we saw a downturn in our business as well. Clients lost money, moved out of state, or disappeared altogether. This caused a lot of concern and worry around us but we’re still here and still dominating.
Have you ever felt like giving up?
There have definitely been tough moments and times but I continue to look forward into the positive.
What would you tell someone who is just starting out?
You have to work hard, learn to say no, and never ever give your work away for free.
What are you looking forward to?
We are also getting ready to launch mini-clinics and offer education here and abroad with our Canadian and Hungarian partners to create a new level certification series of classes.
