Meet Bee Parker-Thompson of Carson, California

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bee Parker-Thompson

Hi Bee, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
2hunned Inc nonprofit started out with 2 people from the same neighborhood in Carson, California; with an idea of helping out people in the community in need, including reversing the hardships they endured. Witnessing alcohol and substance abuse, poverty and violence since childhood, they agreed to be apart of changing the narrative and vowed to contribute to breaking these generational curses. One of participating factors were one of the owner’s grandparents house was foreclosed, resulting in the homelessness of some of her family members.
In their first year they received an award for their community outreach, from the City of Carson, in specificity to their event: the “Carson Community Day: Holiday Giveaway” on December 10th of 2022. Since then, they’ve expanded and connected with multiple nonprofits and businesses from different cities such as Compton, Watts, Long Beach and San Bernardino, just name a few. Striving to continue their mission for significant positive change, starting in the community. They aim to be a collaborative voice for these marginalized areas, as well as heighten community impact, through outreach and youth development programs, which highlight social and emotional learning and life skills. Some of the other programs that they have are the monthly food drives and the sports development programs for youth and young adults.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing in life is ever a smooth road. We are learning to use our inevitable mistakes as fuel to make better decisions. If we don’t go through the bad times, how do we know what good ever really is? Some struggles that we have endured as a nonprofit were financial gain, as well as family and friends not supporting in the way that we expected.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My business partner is a seasoned aircraft mechanic, as well as a music artist from Carson, California with international fans. I am a registered behavior technician in the ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) field in Los Angeles County, as well as an SEL instructor and a community health worker program case manager for 2020Vision Youth in San Bernardino, California.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Family and friends that carry out the roles and responsibilities of the nonprofit like Erica, Sonny and Mat. My business partner and I are blessed enough to have our mothers’ support and cheerlead us through our journey. We are grateful to have our mentors that have helped us elevate our mentality as we aim to focus on success, from the countless meetings to them keeping their word. We appreciate you all more than you know.
