Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Trinh.
Kristina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Sixteen years ago, I went to school to become an Esthetician just for my own personal benefit. After I married, I relocated from San Diego to Orange County to live with my husband, who has been supporting me throughout this journey. After staying home and enjoying my honeymoon for few months, I found a skin care clinic in 2002 and worked there for couple years. Gradually I found skin care to be my passion and it made me fulfilled; helping clients to achieve their dreams of beautiful skin. From there, I started to rent small spaces from different salons but I was struggling. I felt like the environment was not suitable for my clients and I didn’t have the autonomy to create an aura of relaxation. It was also during this journey that I was in trial and error in selecting skin care products. However, soon after, opportunity knocked on my door and everything came together. I found a skin care product line that literally transformed my own skin and I began to collaborate with the company to start branding my own private skin care line. I also met a mentor who inspired and encouraged me to look for my own space which led to the opening of the Beauty Journey Studio, which is the studio I have right now and have always dreamed of. The story does not end there, I am still learning and working to find the best solutions to help our clients but I feel pride in knowing that we deliver a clean and relaxing environment with clinic result based treatments.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being an Esthetician, my primary focus is accommodating and understanding our clients’ needs every day. There are different faces, different skin types, different cultures– all part of the challenges that I have to adapt to and respect.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Beauty Journey – what should we know?

How do you, personally, define success? What’s your criteria, the markers you’re looking out for, etc?
I think happiness is a big part of success. When you find that you enjoy your work and share that happiness with others, all while making a decent living off of what you do, you’ll reach a point where you are content with life. But we all fail before we succeed and for me, I truly believe failures do not define who we are. I know it can be hard to see the big picture or exactly where the path is leading, but there is a reason for it so I always take failures as a learning experience and try to learn from them. Success never comes over overnight and I try to remember that to take it in stride.

I was very lucky to have a great mentor Lori Crete in my career who have helped me build my business and presence in the skin care industry. My business grew at the speed of light but like many who take the leap of faith to start their own businesses, I went through many transformations to get where I am today. I still struggle to juggle my personal life and my business but like with everything, it takes balance to make it work.
