Meet Anna Buckley of @annabucksdraws in Echo Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Buckley.

Anna, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been a doodler — to keep me busy as a toddler, my mom would give me old receipts or gum rappers and a pen to keep me busy whenever she took me somewhere. My portrait drawings were first published with HelloGiggles.com, and I created my Instagram, @annabucksdraws, shortly after.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I started out drawing mostly for myself and my own interest in graphics, so it’s been such a joy to receive positive feedback and personal commissions!

@annabucksdraws – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in drawing portraits and collections of everyday items. I’m just starting out, so every day is a new learning experience for me!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by the internal feeling of joy I get when completing something important to me. I tend to be pretty hard on myself (I think we all fall into that trap too often), so I try to let myself feel joy in successes big or small — from getting a new commission to getting a single positive comment on a new Instagram post.
