Meet Andy Vargas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andy Vargas.

Andy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began singing/performing at the young age of seven. I began singing with my Father Javier Vargas in his Mariachi band (Mariachi California de Javier Vargas) and other local bands/groups in my home town of Watsonville, CA. I started a professional recording career at the age of 15 with a producer named Terry Melcher who helped me sign a record deal with RCA Records.

Recording many Spanish mixes helped get the attention of Carlos Santana and led to an audition which landed me a position with the band on the Supernatural world tour 20 years ago. I have been the lead vocalist for several years now, learning from so many amazing musicians both in the band and through musical collaborations with artists like Patti Label, Enrique Iglesias among others.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any other business, there are challenges, things to learn, and people to learn from. Growing up in the music business brings many life lessons… lots of smoke and mirrors.

There are great moments and difficult moments. Spending a lot of time on the road away from family and friends can be tough too, but on the flip side, you also get to meet amazing people and experience many cultures. But you learn to adapt to it all. Nowadays, I take my career one day at a time. I stay focused on the business at hand.

I have always kept music, my first love. It is the heart of my business. In the entertainment business, you have to keep pushing forward no matter what and remind oneself, there are no such thing as failures, only lessons that are necessary so you get better at your craft which ultimately prepares you for the next opportunity.

Over the years, I have learned to accept challenges and strive above and beyond to reach my dreams. My advice… Not everyone will agree with your vision and dreams, but they’re yours, and you have to make the decision to live and strive for them to make them a reality.

Please tell us about Andy Vargas & Souleros.
I founded Souleros LLC to be my home of independent music and culture. My Company’s goal is to partner with other like-minded artist, producers, and companies who are proud of where they come from and stay true to their history and culture and who appreciate the classic trends.

Souleros LLC specializes in music production, art, marketing, promotion, and event production.

Everything that is taken to build an artist, musical trend or cultural movement from the ground up, that’s what we do. My own solo record is paving the way for other artists that have similar aspirations… write, produce, rock a style that’s their own… true to their culture, identity. Each day there is something new to learn and to adjust to… a new strategy to manifest.

My company has an inspiring team that is dedicated to fulfilling our vision and to make an impact in the music business today.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is performing live on stage with my father with his Mariachi band and watching my mother stand proud and cheer me on. My father gave me my start…he is my mentor, my teacher, my inspiration.
