Meet Amy Kwok

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Kwok.

Hi Amy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
About four years ago, I was planning my son’s 1st birthday party and wanted to try and DIY everything. Being a newly stay at home mom, I figured I can attempt to create party decor during his naps. I was gifted a first-generation Cricut and basically taught myself on how to use the machine with the help of many YouTube videos! Last Christmas, I decided that I wanted to combine my Usborne Books and More and craft business together. I customized a couple of things for my Christmas in July book bundle and I was overwhelmed by how much support I received. A dear friend of mine encouraged me to create a page to post all the things I’ve created. This is how ADreamKrafter came about.

I still can’t believe what’s meant to be a hobby somehow became a part-time business. When I’m crafting and/or spreading literacy, whether together or separately, I am grateful for where both businesses have lead me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a mom to two active toddlers full time, I think my main struggle/issue I’ve experienced is feeling like I’ve lost my identity. My family is my world and I would do anything and everything for them, but as time went by, I felt lost. I felt guilty. I felt like I failed myself. I felt my goals and dreams will be on pause forever and all I am now is… mom. Being able to do something that is for me, whether crafting for ADreamKrafter or spreading literacy with Usborne Books, I feel like I’m not just mom, but a mompreneur – a boss mom! I finally feel like I have something for me, and again, I couldn’t be more grateful.

There are so many talents out there and with the pandemic and stay at home orders in place last year, I’m fortunate my business is growing at a steady pace.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I create one of a kind memories for all events from birthdays to special announcements. I specialize in creating momentous that are personalized and unique. I am proud to say that I am self-taught and have grown exponentially. To this day, I still find new things I want to learn and incorporate in my crafts to make it even more special for my clients.

What matters most to you?
Everything matters, from designing, to colors, to assembly, and to packaging. Most of all, it’s to help people make a personal and special day more memorable. To create something for children so they have an unforgettable birthday and feel extra special. I love to create items that families can cherish and hold close forever.
