Hi Amagiri , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Amagiri Young is a rising artist who burst onto the streaming scene in 2014. Hiphop Recording Artist, and Music Producer, The Long Island born Songwriter has always had a natural affinity for music; rapping and beatboxing from the age of nine. Amagiri Young eventually went on to found his own independent label in 2014, Real Geez Association Records.

From the streets of Riverhead, New York, to the echoes of his music resonating across the airwaves, Amagiri’s odyssey is a testament to the transformative power of music. Discovering his passion at the tender age of 9, he quickly progressed from neighborhood beatboxing and freestyle rapping to recording his first song by 15 and performing on main streets at 16. Yet, it was in the face of adversity that his artistry was truly forged.

At 17, a life-altering incident led to legal troubles that saw him behind bars, an unexpected turn that could have ended many artists’ careers. However, Amagiri Young is no ordinary artist. During his stint in prison, he met collaborator YoungGod, and together they laid the foundations for Real Geez Association Records.

Despite further setbacks, including more legal issues Amagiri never let his passion wane. Instead, he channeled his experiences into his music, speak to the heart of the street experience. His collaboration with Slim 400 on the street hit “Trust Nobody” exemplifies this, resonating with many who have faced similar trials.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been rough, life’s personal ups and downs, leeches and people coming into your circle not to help, but to take from you or try to sabotage your vision.

Incarceration, poor decisions along with an unjust system led to about 14 and a half to 15 years of my life being behind bars. Prime years to be exact.
