Meet Alexis Mckinley of Nearly Nakedd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Mckinley.

Alexis, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all started summer 2019 when I told my friend I wanted to create my own swimsuit. Women have very few options when it comes to swimsuit shopping and I despite wearing the same thing as others. So I decided I was going to create my own. A family friend gave me an old sewing machine to practice on and after I taught myself I went a bought myself a new one.

My ideas started to become reality and I decided to launch my own swimsuit line. Making clothes and teaching myself new things every day has been a journey I’ve loved experiencing. Now I’m an expanding my brand to more than just swimsuits and I will create a variety of different clothing for men and women. I’m excited to see what this journey has in store for me and where this will lead me. It’s only the beginning.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Some struggles would have to be working with other people and getting bad business. You just have to know who you’re working with and ask multiple questions so you know you get what you’re expecting.

My brand is called Nearly Nakedd. I made this brand to produce clothing that complements your body the best way possible wearing less amount of clothes. I specialize in thong swimsuits and BandTops that show a great about of cleavage. I’m most proud of the growth the company has had so far and how far it’s come since it was launched.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was always interested in fashion. I remember growing up watching Raven Simone on That’s so raven and her love for fashion and sewing. In high school I was in every fashion class I could be in. In sewing class back then I wasn’t really good at it though which made me lose a little of my passion but I’m happy that didn’t stop me from trying again later in life.
