Today we’d like to introduce you to Alan Montes.
Alan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After high school, I applied and was accepted into FIDM. Immediately dropping out after a few months due to financial reasons, I enrolled at my local community college as they offered a fashion program. One class in particular (Promotion and Coordination) is what catapulted me into the profession I am in now.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I want to say it has been a smooth road; however, there are always obstacles on the road. Building and retaining connections definitely has been a bump in the road, but very crucial. Essentially the fashion houses or designers have to believe to trust me with their products based on my track record. I am liable if anything gets lost or damaged. Being diligent in counting everything before and after has truly helped.
Trusting in oneself and knowing I’m putting my best work out there. As an artist, I always second-guess my work.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a wardrobe stylist and have been refining my craft for over ten years now. Over the lockdown, I was picked up by an agency and has added me to their professional roster of artist. My most proudest moment was when I was able to see my work on the first cover of a magazine, I was on cloud nine. Very grateful for all the opportunities I’ve had throughout the years.
I’ve done a little bit of everything such as styling runway shows, online campaigns, magazine editorials, red carpets & music videos just name a few.
What sets me apart from others is my own personal sense of style. Other stylists have their unique style and signature. We’re all so different!!!
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
That’s a great question! My dad used to work at Disneyland in the 90s and 2000s; he would sneak me in through employee doors before he received his friends and family card. I probably shouldn’t have shared this memory oops.
