Today we’d like to introduce you to Ahmed Soboh.
Hi Ahmed, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I came to Southern California in 1999, and since then, I’ve been building both my career and my role as a community leader. Professionally, I am a dentist and the owner of three clinics, providing care to people from all walks of life.
Alongside my professional work, I serve as the Religious Director of the Islamic Center of Yorba Linda, guiding and educating thousands of members spiritually and religiously. I also served as Chairman of the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California, an umbrella organization of over 70 nonprofits representing more than half a million residents. In this role, I’ve worked to strengthen community institutions, advocate for our members, and foster collaboration with civic and interfaith leaders.
Over the years, my focus as a leader has been on building bridges, promoting understanding, and empowering communities. Whether through professional service, spiritual guidance, or civic engagement, my goal has always been to make a meaningful, positive impact on the lives of those around me.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like many immigrants, I faced the challenge of starting from scratch—learning a new culture, adapting to different lifestyles, and navigating life in a new country. Professionally, building a career while establishing my dental practices required persistence, long hours, and constant learning.
Serving as a community and religious leader also brought its own set of challenges. Working with large and diverse groups of people means balancing different perspectives, expectations, and priorities. There were times when finding common ground or building consensus felt difficult, but those experiences taught me patience, empathy, and the value of collaboration.
Looking back, the struggles were part of the journey that shaped me. They pushed me to grow, strengthened my commitment to service, and gave me a deeper understanding of the communities I serve.
We’ve been impressed with Islamic center of yorba Linda /Advanced Dentistry of Newport Beach , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Professionally, building a high-quality dental care practice without compromising values—and keeping the spirit of service and giving back to the community—has been the trademark of my company.
In terms of community leadership, the highlight of my career has been building bridges between diverse communities and fostering understanding and mutual respect across cultures and faith groups.
For me, combining professionalism with kindness and compassion is not only possible—it is essential, and it’s what guides everything I do.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is that patience and long-term vision always outweigh quick wins or short-term gains. Building a career, a business, or a community takes time, consistency, and perseverance. Real success comes from focusing on sustainable growth, nurturing relationships, and staying true to values—even when the faster or easier path is tempting.
Equally important has been learning how to deal with those who differ with me. Leading diverse groups means embracing different perspectives with respect, patience, and understanding. I’ve come to see disagreements not as obstacles, but as opportunities for growth and stronger connections.
These lessons have guided me both professionally and in community leadership, shaping the way I work, serve, and lead
