Meet Adriana Cabrera Marquez and Pedro Cabrera Martínez of Swiftgirl AC Auto Diagnostics in Bell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Cabrera Marquez and Pedro Cabrera Martínez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Adriana and Pedro. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It was a leap of faith for my husband and me in 2015!

Both of us coming from two different worlds and point of views.

Our first challenge was to make a decision due to my health battling endometrial cancer (my diagnosis was on 3/2015) and having to have to take certain measures. Myself having to just finished my BA in Business Administration recently 4 months prior to my beginning of cancer battle.

My husband coming from working in the automotive industry for over 20 years and the stories that he would tell on how many customers would get ripped off and the women weren’t being respected. It is incredible how the automotive world is so downgrading to women.

So, the idea emerges from our late-night conversations of how we should make a change and that the remaining time I have left might as well do something about it because time doesn’t forgive.

We started with a $4 credit card for buying parts and gives us the cash flow we needed. Then I started searching for a shop to lease boy that was hard but God is good finally landed somewhere that was available. The process for new businesses and getting all the licenses was also a challenge and a learning curve.

During all this process, the best challenge has always been my health. At times, I wasn’t at my prime and had to take a few days off and so forth but my husband, he has been the greatest business partner and husband. Both of us with the same mindset on helping and educating our customers especially women. Wow! That is and has been our satisfaction. Many customers walk in, scared with the thought “is this for real?” waiting on the big charge of money. Come to their surprise we simply just have them a diagnostic for free and educated them on their vehicle, giving them the choice of what they want to do, no pressure. And on top of that, with reasonable prices, they are super surprised and many times they have said “give me business cards people need to know you guys.”

So here we are, making a mile stone in the automotive industry. With a simple word of honesty and making your life easy.

Life shouldn’t be hard. We people, at times, make it difficult for others.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. The startup process was road blocking especially when a woman is walking into a man’s world.

Making business with automotive vendors, setting up broker deals, many times I got asked, “are you sure you are an auto broker?” “Are you the owner of Swiftgirl Ac Auto?” At times, I would just laugh in my mind and would just smile and say, “yes, I am.”

My husband, many times would tell other business owners, “if my wife is not here, there is no business.” Just the looking what these men had on their faces was just very assuming to me.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We do mostly everything in the automotive. From simple oil change, tune ups, brakes, to more difficult motor swaps, and transmission swaps. Detailed work on the electrical, AC compressors, you name it.

We are known for our AC services, AC repair, AC refill, AC diagnostics, also overall diagnostics for all types of vehicles, our women friendly service and how we cater to all of our clients. The fact the we are flexible and many times we deliver the car to you.

What were you like growing up?
My childhood was a journey. Both of my parents migrated to US when I was born. At the time, my parents left me with my grandmother back in Mexico until they got settled.

After 5 years of age I came to US. Both of my parents are hard working, very strict and discipline in their ways. I learned since a young age to work and see the world differently.

I would go to work with both of my parents every day after school. And school for me was always an inspiration. I always loved it. Loved learning all the time.

Because my father was so sexist, since I was young I made it a goal to prove him wrong.

By his luck, he only had daughters lol.

Personality wise, I have always been driven, with dreams. My icon has always been Wonder Woman!!!

Very happy and enthusiastic with life, loved sports and played soccer throughout college. My parents never approved of that sport because it was a man’s sport lol.

I have always dreamed of becoming a woman to lead and inspire. Love to help people in general. I love music, dancing, sports, you name it. I always believed that when you are open to the world you will find wonders.

Studied architecture, art, business and accounting, now an auto broker business owner.
