Life & Work with Yana Lashay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yana Lashay.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always been obsessed with skin, I definitely feel like it was made for me, however when I first started my business, I was still a tad bit lost. I would just work my 9-5 and then take about two clients on the side, I was so in love with the process but I needed something to happen where I wouldn’t be scared to take that leap of faith & jump full fledge to begin working for just myself. Next thing you know, I ended up pregnant, I let the company know that I wanted to take my full leave once my child was born for bonding, remember I was talking about that push that I needed? Well, there it was ever since I had let the company know that work had become stressful for me, and I knew I wanted and needed more after continuously praying, I quit my job & continued to work from home, I was in charge of my own branding, booking, and marketing. Things took off for me immediately and I have God to thank for that. I literally started in bedroom, then into my living room, to having a suite and now I’m working out of a bigger suite that I signed my lease on a few months ago. The sky is really the limit, this is only the beginning for me and I can’t wait to look back and see how much further I’ve come in my career.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A smooth road sounds so easy, and this process wasn’t easy. Having to work my full nine months of pregnancy was a lot in itself but I did it, there are times where you won’t even know if you’ll have clients, but that’s where my faith comes into play and now my books always fill out on a monthly basis. Things can get overwhelming when your literally everything for your business, but it goes to show you appreciate working for yourself even more, I like to call it my beautiful struggle for now, lol.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an esthetician, I specialize in corrective skincare, chemical peels, and body waxing. If I had to pick a favorite of three, I would have to say facials, I’m obsessed with correcting skin, you can never know everything about it; I’m learning new things everyday. If I had to say I was most proud of anything, it would have to be starting my business from ground up, it’s like planting a seed protecting it nurturing it watering it and watching it grow & that process is so dope to see. I feel like my aura sets me aside from others and knowing that my business is not just about a dollar sign, I’m sincerely passionate about what I do.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My daughter, family, friends, and clients have all been my rock. They each play a huge part in where my business is today. When things get overwhelming, my go to would have to be my prayer warrior who’s my sister Shawnte & my bestest friend Aysha, they keep me on my toes & I’m so grateful for them!
