Life & Work with Wasim Anwar of Beverly Hills West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wasim Anwar.

Hi Wasim, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story has always been about transformation. I started behind the chair as a hairstylist, but I never saw beauty as just hair. I was always interested in the complete image — the way a woman looks, feels, and carries herself.

My career has taken me through different countries, cultures, and chapters of my life, and each one influenced the way I see beauty today. My journey took me from Damascus to Beirut, Dubai, Rome, and eventually Los Angeles, with each city shaping my understanding of beauty, fashion, and craftsmanship. After many years in the industry, I felt ready to take everything I had learned and create something that was completely my own.

That became Wasim Signature — a world where hair, bridal fashion, and design come together. I began designing bridal gowns and crowns, working closely with fabrics, silhouettes, and details, while continuing the hairstyling career that built my foundation.

Today, I’m in a new chapter. I’m not only working with clients; I’m building a brand with my own point of view. I want Wasim Signature to represent timeless elegance, craftsmanship, and a very personal approach to bridal beauty.

I feel like everything I’ve done throughout my career has brought me to this moment — and in many ways, I feel like I’m just getting started.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building something with your own name on it comes with a different kind of pressure. When I created Wasim Signature, I realized that every decision — creative, financial, and personal — ultimately came back to me.

One of my biggest challenges has been learning how to balance creativity with the reality of building a business. As an artist, I can spend hours thinking about one detail of a gown or the perfect look for a bride, but as a business owner, I also have to think about timing, production, marketing, and growth.

There have been moments when things moved slower than I wanted, but they taught me patience and made my vision clearer. I’ve learned that building a meaningful brand doesn’t happen overnight. I would rather build something authentic, step by step, than rush something that doesn’t represent me.

That challenge continues today, and I think it’s also what keeps me hungry and creative.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What I create is really about the complete woman, not just one element of her look. I work across bridal design, crowns, and hair, and I love bringing those worlds together in a way that feels effortless and personal.

With Wasim Signature, I design bridal gowns with a strong focus on silhouette, beautiful fabrics, and details that feel luxurious without overwhelming the woman wearing them. I also design crowns and continue my work as a hairstylist, which gives me a very different perspective when I’m creating for a bride.

What sets my work apart is that I don’t look at a gown, a crown, or a hairstyle separately. I can imagine the final woman from the beginning — how the dress moves, how the hair frames her face, where the crown sits, and how everything works together.

What I’m most proud of is seeing ideas that once existed only in my imagination become real pieces that carry my name. When a bride puts on one of my designs and suddenly sees herself differently, that moment means everything to me.

I’m not interested in following every trend. I want my work to have an identity — feminine, refined, confident, and recognizable as Wasim Signature.

How do you think about happiness?
Happiness for me is actually very simple. It’s being surrounded by people I love, having peace in my life, laughing, traveling, and waking up feeling excited about what I’m creating.

I’m also happiest when I can make someone else feel good. Sometimes it’s a bride seeing herself in the mirror, sometimes it’s a client leaving my chair with a completely different energy, and sometimes it’s simply being there for someone I care about.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that happiness isn’t about having everything perfect. It’s about appreciating what you have, staying curious, loving deeply, and still having something to dream about.

I still have many dreams — and that makes me happy.
