Life & Work with Vanessa Flores of Redondo Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Flores.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In 2008, I lost my twin brother to suicide. It was a loss that changed me at my core and, in many ways, shaped the way I move through life today.

Looking back, that experience became part of my reason to keep going. It taught me how precious life is, not to get lost in the small things, and to keep moving forward even when life feels incredibly heavy.

I’ve learned that resilience doesn’t always look like being strong. Sometimes it simply means continuing, one day at a time. After experiencing what I consider the hardest day of my life, I carry a deeper appreciation for life, for the people I love, and for every opportunity I have to keep growing.

That perspective has stayed with me personally and professionally. It reminds me to lead with compassion, stay grounded, and make the most of the life I’ve been given.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Vanessa Flores is a first-generation Mexican-American medical aesthetician whose work is rooted in education, connection, and helping people feel more confident in their skin.

Over the years, she has built her business almost entirely through referrals, something she considers one of her greatest accomplishments. For Vanessa, that growth has never been about being the loudest voice in the room. It has come from building trust, creating genuine relationships, and making each client feel seen, understood, and cared for.

With more than a decade of experience in aesthetics and skincare, Vanessa takes a thoughtful, results-driven approach to treating concerns such as acne, melasma, rosacea, pigmentation, texture, and signs of aging. Her background in both artistry and medical aesthetics allows her to look at skin from multiple perspectives, blending technical knowledge with a strong understanding of beauty, balance, and individuality.

She is also certified through the American Cancer Society as a facilitator for the Look Good Feel Better program, an experience that deepened her belief in the emotional connection between how we feel and how we see ourselves.

Vanessa believes skincare should not feel overwhelming. Her approach is centered on simplifying routines, creating realistic treatment plans, and educating clients so they understand their skin instead of feeling intimidated by it. She wants self-care to feel supportive and empowering, not like another obligation or something to feel guilty about.

What continues to inspire her most is seeing the shift that can happen when someone begins to feel comfortable and confident in their own skin. For Vanessa, that transformation is about much more than appearance. It is about helping people feel like themselves again.

“Your skin is something you live in for the rest of your life. I believe taking care of it can be simple when you have the right knowledge and support. My goal is never to change someone into someone else. It’s to help them understand their skin, protect its integrity, and feel confident in it. I believe less can be more, and that the best results come from thoughtful treatments, consistency, and a plan that truly fits the individual. I love what I do because I’ve seen how something as simple as feeling good in your skin can carry into so many other parts of your life.”

Who else deserves credit in your story?
So many people have played a part in my journey. My family deserves a tremendous amount of credit for teaching me the value of hard work, resilience, and staying grounded. My twin brother, even in his absence, continues to influence the way I live my life and reminds me not to take time, opportunities, or the people I love for granted.

I’m also deeply grateful for the mentors, educators, coworkers, and employers who gave me opportunities to learn and trusted me before I always knew what the next step would look like. Cindy Morales has been an especially meaningful part of my journey, both as a friend and professional partner, and I’m grateful for the space we’ve created to grow together.

And honestly, my clients deserve so much credit too. Many of them have supported me for years, referred their friends and family, trusted my recommendations, and allowed me to grow alongside them. Building a career through those relationships has meant more to me than I can fully express.

I don’t view anything I’ve built as something I did completely on my own. It has been shaped by the people who believed in me, taught me, challenged me, and continued to show up for me along the way.
