Today we’d like to introduce you to Uche.
Hi Uche, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up in Nigeria, music has always been a prevalent part of my life. From singing in the church choir at age 5, to never being able to escape the euphony of the likes of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, music became me at a young age.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It wasn’t until I moved to Chicago in my late teen years that I started actualizing my passion for music. Being in Chicago, everyone is a diamond in the rough, so to stand out, you really have to believe in yourself and attack your craft.
It was never easy finding the right representation or collaborators. Not everyone is as hungry for success. I find that my biggest challenge has been and continues to be creating a bridge from my art to the world.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I see myself as a visionary. An innovator. I’ve managed to create a space for myself and my ideas to exist while opening my world to an audience that’s equally involved in the creation of an ecosystem.
In layman’s terms, I’m an artist, a rapper, a producer, a model, a stylist, an amazing director and screenwriter haha. But truthfully, I’m just Uche.
What sets me apart from anyone doing something like me is that this art is who I am. I don’t have any profound skills or crazy objectives. We’re simply watching me exist and exude passion through my existence. Many want this, I need this. It’s the oxygen to my world.
How do you think about happiness?
Creating dope art. Nothing beats the feeling of having a vision in your head and seeing it come to fruition in the physical. Or being a part of a creation you know the world will appreciate.
