Life & Work with Sharon Youngblood of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Youngblood

Hi Sharon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started singing when I was 13, My middle school choir Teacher (Mrs Memede) Randomly decided to call me to the front of the class and she asked me to sing a solo, as perplexed as I was for her asking I reluctantly obliged lol, and she couldn’t believe there was this big voice in this very very introverted shy girl. I was clueless as well and so was my mom, Until my teacher told her and she heard me and was shocked as well, After that the rest is history, I became a singer lol… At first I hated it because I didn’t like the attention, But I learned to embrace it and then my comfortably grew slowly but surely.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
ABSOLUTELY NOT… I was not the smallest young girl, So I had the biggest issues trying to fit in with the culture of the 90s where the skinnier you were, the better. Thick is in NOW, but it wasn’t back then so I struggled with self esteem and comparison for the longest. Also because I was trained classically, my voice didnt sound like everyone else’s and I wanted to sing Pop music. I was a thicker, black girl who wanted to sing Pop/Singer Songwriter/John Mayer type music.. So I Didn’t fit in lol to say the least. So navigating finding my authenticity and purpose was a journey for me

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Singer, Songwriter, Mentor, and Coach, and I’m thrilled to announce the launch of my organization, The 360 Creative! Our vision is to build a vibrant community of empowered, purpose-driven creatives who are equipped to navigate the complexities of their craft, stay grounded in their sense of self, and thrive in their careers.

As a creative professional, achieving balance and sustainability in your career requires mastering four interconnected pillars: Authenticity, Business Savvy, Purpose-Driven Action, and Alignment. Together, these pillars create a solid foundation for a thriving, resilient creative life—one that fosters holistic growth, longevity, and balance in both your art and your journey.

This year, I’m thrilled to take the opportunity to empower creatives with the tools and mindset needed to navigate the industry more effectively. My goal is to help them cultivate a well-rounded perspective that supports long-term sustainability and success in their creative careers.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I believe the creative industry is heading toward a more personalized and purpose-driven space over the next 5-10 years. With the rise of AI, digital platforms, and evolving technologies, the way we create, share, and consume art will continue to transform. However, I see a growing emphasis on authenticity and meaningful connection as a counterbalance to all this innovation.

Artists and creatives will need to become more entrepreneurial, learning how to merge their artistic vision with business savvy to navigate these changes. Community-driven initiatives and collaboration will also play a huge role, as creators lean on each other for support, resources, and inspiration in a rapidly changing landscape.

At the same time, I anticipate a stronger focus on mental health and sustainability in the industry. Creatives will prioritize practices that allow them to thrive holistically—not just professionally, but personally as well. This shift toward balance and intentionality excites me because it aligns with the vision of cultivating empowered, resilient creatives who are equipped for the future.
