Life & Work with Sara Macias of Los Angeles / OC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Macias.

Hi Sara, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I fell in love with art when I was only a child. There were many dark moments for me growing up, and art was my strength and my escape into a state of euphoria.

I won several art contests growing up, so this helped boost my confidence, especially being introverted, and a bit of a loner. Although my future was very unclear to me in regards to profession, I knew that art was my God-given calling.

I refined my skills at the university level, and I found what I felt my “style.”

From there, I have worked on creating a portfolio of a wide variety of works; driven from my passion for beauty, by the divinity of God, the complex grace of women, and even the playful, untouched child that still lives within me.

My work is very much about the deepest desires of the human heart. My hope is to electrify the world to live their dreams through my art.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all; suffering is a gift and comes in handy when producing art! So from my many obstacles and challenges, I believe some of my best ideas have been formed.

It has always been very challenging for me to hold a 9-5 job, and to feel a good fit in the work place. And again, because I struggled all my adult life with this, my intimate time with art was all the richer.

My whole being has always been in conflict with my spirit; trying to figure out what to do with this desire and that desire, and ultimately coming to God with who I was and asking “Who have you created me to be?” And “how can I fulfill my purpose in life?” So in the end my spirit must be in synch with my whole being. It took my a long time, and a lot of torment to find peace…

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am proud to be a Commission Artist. And give a special thanks to the woman friends in my life that have supported and nurtured the beginnings of my business.

I specialize in creating custom fine art works for others; that can range from painting a dog for a client, to doing a full on painting based on the clients needs and wants.

I believe I have a very unique style that stands out, and is evident in any finished product.

How do you think about luck?
The bad luck of not being compatible with a 9-5 job, and stopping me from being complacent in a job unrelated to art has been the best “good luck” in my life!

Because of this, I have had the time to create some of my best works of art.
