Life & Work with Regina Panina of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Regina Panina

Hi Regina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From a very young age, my life has been deeply intertwined with music. Born into a family of musicians, I literally grew up surrounded by the sounds of melodies, sheet music, and rehearsals. My mother always had a song ready for any occasion—whether it was a lullaby or a song about my first lost tooth. When I was in kindergarten, my father would constantly play his favorite tunes, and we’d do morning exercises together. I always knew that music played an important role for all of us.
Music became more than just a passion for me—it became my inner world, a way of expressing myself, and an inseparable part of who I am.

At the age of 9, I started performing, participating in various music projects and festivals. These first steps on stage were a real life school for me, where I learned how to connect with the audience, gained confidence, and honed my professional skills.

In 2013, I won a prestigious music competition in my hometown, which opened the door to London. This was a pivotal moment, giving me invaluable experience and inspiration for further creative endeavors.
Around the same time, I began developing my own musical projects, which allowed me to experiment with genres and search for my unique style.

Of course, like any creative person, I’ve faced setbacks and rejections along the way. However, each challenge only strengthened my character and reminded me that even the hardest moments are part of the journey toward greater achievements. I always found the strength within myself to keep moving forward, staying true to my goals and dreams.
And despite everything, the songs I wrote or performed made it to the global Shazam charts and earned Platinum status.

For the past five years, my passion has been composing, recording, and vocal producing songs for Russian and international top-grossing films, TV series, animated movies, and television shows. Being a part of such projects is not only a great honor and responsibility but also an immense pleasure.
I collaborate with leading film studios in Russia, and one of my recent projects involved writing and performing the soundtrack for the family fantasy film The Wizard of Emerald City, which has been achieving impressive record-breaking results since its release, even surpassing Avengers: Endgame in pre-sales.

Almost a year ago, I moved to Los Angeles at the invitation of music producers to create a project that will revolutionize the industry—a story that combines electronic music with live instruments and vocals. I sincerely hope this will be a true breakthrough.
Each new project for me is an opportunity to share my emotions and thoughts through music, to inspire and support the audience.

After all, we listen to music every day. It accompanies us when we’re happy and helps us through difficult times.
And now, I am creating my own music. My main goal is to inspire. Because sometimes, only music can express what words cannot, reaching deep into the soul.
I love what I do and am proud that the songs I’ve created resonate so strongly and positively with listeners.
Music is life—the brightest, most vivid life that flows through me every second.

My musical story continues, and ahead lie new projects, new stages, and new challenges, but now, here in Los Angeles.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There have been moments of rejection, projects that didn’t turn out as planned, and times when self-doubt crept in. One of the biggest challenges has been starting over in a completely new country, leaving behind the familiarity of home and navigating the complexities of a new culture, industry, and network.

Balancing artistic integrity with commercial demands has also been a learning curve, as has maintaining resilience in the face of setbacks. However, each challenge has taught me valuable lessons and shaped me into a stronger, more determined artist.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work revolves around music in its many forms. I’m a singer, songwriter, specializing in creating music for films, television, and live performances. Over the years, I’ve worked on a variety of projects, including composing soundtracks for Russian and international films, writing songs for animated features, and developing my own musical projects that blend genres like electronic and live instrumentation.

I’m most proud of my ability to connect with people through my work, whether it’s creating a song that resonates with an audience or writing a piece that enhances the emotional impact of a film. One of my proudest moments was contributing as both a songwriter and performer for the soundtrack of the recent film The Wizard of Emerald City, which became a box office success, as I mentioned earlier.
I’m also proud of is the international recognition some of my songs have received. My tracks have charted globally, including in Shazam’s top charts, and have earned Platinum status. I take great joy in knowing that my music is reaching listeners worldwide and making an impact.

I think what sets me apart is my ability to mix genres in a way that feels fresh and innovative, and an obvious willingness to take risks. I’m always looking to expand my horizons, whether it’s starting out in LA working with international talent or experimenting with new sounds and concepts. My approach combines technical mastery, a deep emotional connection to the music, and the courage to explore uncharted territories. I also have a deep understanding of the way music enhances storytelling, which allows me to bring a cinematic quality to everything I create, whether it’s for a film, a TV series, or a live performance.

I want my music to make people feel something—whether it’s joy, sadness, hope, or even a sense of mystery or wonder. The ability to evoke such emotions through sound is something that I’m deeply passionate about.
