Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Mower-Conner.
Pamela, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been drawing and painting since early childhood, it was always my passion to be an artist.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been for the most part a smooth road, more so when very young since it was more unusual to be so committed to doing artwork when in grammar school. In adulthood, gaining acceptance in galleries and having exhibits became a more competitive experience. I do feel I have been lucky in showing and selling artwork. Similar to other aspects of life, my artistic career comes in cycles, some years I sell many artworks, others none. The important thing is to view the artistic process as an ever evolving exploration of both oneself and the surrounding universe.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a painter, I have used many mediums but always return to acrylics. The series I am most proud of initially began as a triptych, then evolved over time to become a continuous painting 5′ high by over 100′ wide. These paintings were shown in groups of 6-7 in solo shows over a period of several years as they were completed. My imagery is detailed, intuitive, and strongly based on nature.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I love walking in the early morning, oak trees are a particular favorite. If there is the sound of flowing water nearby, even better. Painting is an important source of my happiness. It is a process, both challenging and rewarding engaging the deeper layers of one’s being.
