Today we’d like to introduce you to Nazli Yuksel.

Hi Nazli, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I moved to LA from NY in 2018 and not finding the sandals ı wanted was a turning point that inspired me to start my own business. The fact that ı come from Bodrum, a coastal city in Turkey known with its bougainvillea flowers and leather handmade sandals gives me a unique advantage in creating sandals that are authentic and stand out from the competition. Also, my degree and experiences in international logistics and buying are valuable assets that have helped me in creating and running my business.

By leveraging my cultural heritage and personal experience, ı can create sandals that reflect my personal style and values. This can help me differentiate myself in the market and attract customers who are looking for something unique and authentic.

Starting a business is not easy, but when you have a personal connection to your product or service, it can be a very rewarding experience. It allows you to share your passion with others and contribute to the market in a meaningful way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We had a smooth road initially, with positive experiences of taking part in good stores in LA and near states and receiving great orders from a Resorts. The first store which we represent our products was a Fred Segal Malibu. However, the outbreak of COVID-19 disrupted our wholesale operations a couple of years ago. Our orders are canceled. Also, the recent recession led to a decrease in demand for our sandals. Overall, it was a difficult time for us, but it also taught us valuable lessons about resilience and adaptability. We emerged from this experience stronger and more focused on our goals.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My professional expertise lies in the realm of supply chain management and transportation. However, my passion and interest has always been in creation, fashion especially shoes.

I am proud to say that I have been able to combine my passion with my expertise by working with artisans in Turkey to produce high-quality leather sandals that are both stylish and comfortable. These artisans have years of experience in their craft, and it is a privilege to be able to collaborate with them to create something beautiful.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was an outgoing and sociable person, and I enjoyed spending time with friends and meeting new people. I was always interested in learning new things and expanding my knowledge, and I would often ask questions and seek out information on various topics.

In terms of interests, I was quite diverse and enjoyed exploring a wide range of hobbies and activities. I had a particular interest in reading, writing, and art, history, fashion and I spent a lot of my free time pursuing these interests.

Overall, I feel that my personality and interests have shaped me into the person I am today, and I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have shaped my life.
