Life & Work with Mia Jade of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Jade.

Hi Mia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m originally from a small town called “century, Fl. My hometown definitely shaped me into the person I am today but it also limited me ALOT. Once my mom moved me and my sister to California we started out staying with my aunt and uncle and the first thing my uncle told me was how I could be anything I could think of in California. After I realized I wasn’t limited anymore I started taking my acting seriously. Once I started La Quinta Highschool, I auditioned for a theater musical being held and that ended up being the start of my singing career’s spark. I believe this was the start of me beginning to branch outside of my comfort zone for sure. Once I started singing in my high-school’s talent show and joined choir, more people started hearing my singing and would tell me I should start making music. I would have people who were extremely supportive and actually invested into my singing and people who would try to humble me by mocking me. Even though there’s more ways to go, I look back at every moment, good and bad, and see it as one step towards what’s to come after this. Another thing I realized over these years is that, In California opportunities big and small tend to gravitate towards you with right timing and it’s very important that you take advantage of all of those opportunities. Everything that has either happened to me or for me has lead to me being in this path, to being the creative I am gradually evolving into.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A major struggle along the road that I’ve had has been maintaining stability in L.A with the cost of living being so high, while also having to
Invest into my acting and music career. Another struggle I’ve personally dealt with is mental health for sure. From life outside of my career to my life within my career, I think it’s really easy to get unmotivated especially within the music/acting industry because of how nonlinear and unpredictable it is compared to other career paths.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a music artist/actress. I mainly do the songwriting and singing for my music projects, I’m trying to learn how to produce a little aswell. I’m mainly known for my music as of right now but I’m also gradually getting into the acting scene at the same time. I’m proud of how much I’ve grown as an artist. Growing as an artist causes you to also grow as a person too, because you get to learn more about yourself. My authenticity definitely sets me apart from others. From my voice to the way I think. I aim to emphasize the thing that people question about me. It’s like everybody has their own blueprints and I just want to make my blueprint as whimsical as I can.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I Love how big L.A is but also how small it is. Theres so many people who live here but so far I’ve had mutuals with most people I’ve met in the most random of places. Or sometimes I’ll even run into people I know. Theres always something to do here so much to explore and connections to make. My least favorite thing about living here would be balancing the high cost of living here with pursing your craft at the same time. It kind of forces you to be more creative, so I like to look at it in a positive light.
