Life & Work with Mariah Bruner of Las Vegas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariah Bruner.

Mariah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started playing with makeup in middle school when I was allowed by my parents to start wearing it! I experimented more in high school and I probably looked crazy for school. A year after I graduated, in 2015, I did bridal makeup for a girl I went to high school with and her sisters. I charged $20 for each of them lol. It was all up from there though, I made my way doing makeup for proms, photoshoots, birthdays, fashion shows etc. I went to esthetician school and then eventually makeup school. In Vegas I started working for agencies and doing mostly bridal makeup but all kinds of styles over the years. My favorite kind of makeup to do is full glam whether that’s a photoshoot, wedding or going out glam. Vegas is the perfect place for me to be to do makeup & hair! Now I get most bookings through my Instagram or word of mouth. I love meeting all the different people that come here and express my creativity almost daily!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Is it ever smooth? Haha. I would think how can I sustain this as a career? I just kept pushing through all those “I’m not good enoughs,” and honestly, my clients, friends and people who loved my work or saw potential in me really are the ones who kept me going. They believed in me and would always comment on my talent. Art is very personal so anytime someone wasn’t 100% happy it would tear me up inside! Those are the experiences I had to learn from and grow my skills.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a makeup artist. I travel around Las Vegas and glam up my clients! I specialize in full glam, but I can do pretty much anything. I do makeup for all kinds of events as there’s a surplus of reasons to get glammed out here! I’m proud of my work ethic and my ability to be adaptable. I can go into any room and be ready for whatever look is being thrown at me. I love to work and sharpen my skills at every appointment. I believe what sets me apart from others is my attention to detail and personable nature when glamming up my clients! I truly am passionate about makeup and aesthetics. I take pride in my work and always want my clients to be happy and feel amazing!

What does success mean to you?
To me success is happiness. If you’re happy doing what you love to do then you’ve accomplished success in life.
