Life & Work with Lyle del Mundo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyle del Mundo.

Hi Lyle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Chicago, father of four, and a son of immigrant parents from the Philippines. I started my entrepreneurial career at the age of 12. While most at that age during the time earned by mowing lawns, delivering papers, and shoveling driveways during the winter, myself and some friends started a mobile DJ business and DJ’d our 6th-8th Junior High School dances to earn money. So from then working as a marketing professional at KBA Marketing in Chicago by day while simultaneously running my own small business Dynasty Entertainment as a local nightlife promoter at night. I naturally made my career pivot from producing weekly nightlife events to marketing some of the biggest brands in the world.

As a part of my journey as a public servant, I served as President Emeritus of one of the oldest and largest Filipino American non-profit organizations based in Los Angeles, SIPA. I helped redevelop a 50 years organization’s leadership, programs, and position to be one of the country’s top community-led Filipino 501(c)3.

I recently Co-Founded and am Executive Director of Filipinos Advancing Creative Education (FACE), which is a national 501(c)3 that services are very talented Filipino diaspora to help ensure we have more representation in mainstream media.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, I’ve had my share of trials and tribulations, especially having a child at a young age. Having my firstborn at the age of 18, I had to grow up really quickly going to school, raising a child, and working. But, the entrepreneurial spirit in my has always managed to find ways to be able to provide not just for my family but others around me. It has been a long journey, I’ve learned a lot through financial, mental, and physical hardships. But as a student of life, you always need to continue to grow personally by surrounding yourself with people you can learn from.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
By trade, I am a lifestyle marketing consultant and has helped build some of the biggest brands, personalities, and sports organizations in the world. I specialize in “connecting the dots” and monetize that by making professional introductions and bringing everyone together.

Some of my past and current clients include Bella Poarch, H.E.R. Jo Koy, Jordan Clarkson, Manny Pacquiao, Bruno Mars, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Funko, Jollibee, Seafood City, Nissan North America, Verizon Wireless, Ciroc Vodka, Sanrio, Universal Pictures, ABS-CBN, San Miguel Brewery, Monster Products, Philippine Department of Tourism, Nestle, Houston Rockets, LA Clippers, SF Giants, and many more.

With over 25 years of experience as marketer and event producer, I have helped connect the Filipino community and general market around the world. I think what helps set me apart from everyone else is just my natural ability to step outside of everyone’s comfort zone, navigate through multiple industries, and continue to open doors for others.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I personally don’t believe in luck, I believe in what GOD has intended for you. Luck is a big part in Filipino/Asian culture, they embrace it and even consider certain numbers like 3,6, and 8 lucky in hopes to bring you good fortune. But, I believe religion plays a deeper role in our lives and has helped guide me through adulthood by blessing me with 4 amazing children (Yleinah, Isabella, Noah, and Grayson), my fiancé Janice, and a career that has taken us across the globe to experience and see things that most only read in books. I believe that I am fortunate not by luck but blessings that GOD has given to me.
