Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Johnson
Hi Jordan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since I was in school, I’ve been deeply interested in art—whether it was painting, sculpture, or even art history. Over time this passion evolved into something more, I eventually got into face painting, creating transformations into zombies, skulls, and other characters using paint and spx. While this passion developed, I started seeing some of my now-friends and mutuals build careers in beauty, which inspired me to start makeup myself. I began blending traditional face painting with makeup techniques, and by the end of my senior year, this combination had become a major passion.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey hasn’t been easy. Being queer and Black has made navigating the industry challenging, especially when it comes to working with brands that are truly shade inclusive—not just for me, but for deeper skin tones. I started this because of a passion and to provide representation for other queer Black individuals, so that we have a voice and presence in beauty. That’s why it’s disheartening when major brands overlook the importance of inclusivity. It feels like a setback, but it also drives me to keep pushing for change and holding the beauty industry accountable.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a beauty content creator known for my creative makeup looks, but I also share a range of beauty content, including hair and grooming videos. I think this versatility really sets me apart and allows me to connect with a wider audience in the beauty space.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
i think the most important lesson I’ve learned is to keep going. The algorithm changes, people lose interest, and followers come and go—but keep creating content for yourself. Staying true to what you love!
