Life & Work with Jahdyn Faith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jahdyn Faith.

Hi Jahdyn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started singing as soon as I could talk, music has always been a form of expression for me. I like to say that music and I have never been separated. The first time I performed on a stage, I was four, and from there, I started singing in the church, which I still do (that’ll never change). I began writing songs at thirteen and got into the studio for the first time when I was sixteen. I’ve been writing and recording for five years now, and currently working on my debut EP.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In order to reach any mountain peak, there’s always a valley to get through first; the same can be said about success. The times in my career when I felt like I was walking through a valley only brought me greater victory. Early in my career, I had to learn that making music wasn’t just an art; it is a business, and it’s not always easy to navigate. As a young woman in the industry, you must learn that your decisions are powerful and that your yes or no should be valued. Finding that voice was a challenge for me because I didn’t want to “hurt people’s feelings,” but now I don’t allow temporary emotions to make decisions for my art or my business. Stepping into authenticity and not feeling bad about is a big win. It might not always be easy but it has always been worth it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do and how it sets you apart from others?
I am a singer-songwriter, recording artist, and worship leader. I’m most proud of the stories I tell and for staying true to myself. I took the time to develop as an artist and create a sound that I love. We live in a society that consumes so much content all the time, and artists are constantly pressured to release new music. I haven’t let anyone rush my process. I know that everything happens at the right time, and I’m so excited that my time is now. I’m ready to share it with all of you.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The most important characteristic of my success has been my faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for but not yet seen. I’ve determined that my mindset has to align with my vision, and everything I see for myself and my career is attainable. Faith is my anchor. It’s such a blessing to say I’m now seeing the manifestation of those things that were once hoped for.
