Today we’d like to introduce you to Hazel Alvarez.
Hi Hazel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Hazel Alvarez, and I am the NUNA 5D Community Private Education Association Founder, Director, and Educator. I have been an Early Childhood Educator since 2002.
As an educator and parent, I have been feeling the need for change and I have experienced first-hand how our current methods of teaching are not beneficial to our children. Our systems are competitive, suppressive and create anxiety and trauma in our young children. I have many years of experience teaching in a system that does not attend to each child as an individual with unique gifts and talents. I am profoundly grateful for my years of experience, for they have led me to go within and create solutions, the path of creating change for our children and our families. That means really understanding what teaching and learning are. Teaching is the act of guiding and facilitating learning. Learning about life, emotions, choices, personal gifts, abilities, and how to follow your heart and intuition. True teaching nurtures the connection and bond made between the educator (facilitator) and the child. This bond is not pressured by measured learning objectives or the ability of the child to reproduce something that was taught. It is nurtured by the ability to allow the child to be who they truly are, to find and explore what really gets them excited, and to follow their internal flow of happiness. All these things combined will help us to create a new world for our children. A world where they follow their intuition and hearts towards the life they want to live. It is time to listen to our children and give them the opportunity to be who they have come here to be. My love and devotion for education has made this my life’s mission. I am here to implement change and thanks to my experiences, I know just how to begin!
Evolution of Education starts with Us!
Our children deserve to know what their true purpose in life is and what will make them happy. Happiness is not bonded by money, positions, titles, or where they went to university, but true happiness is that which stems from their own knowing and intuition. I know this to be true because once I stepped away from the educational system, my veil was lifted, and my intuition took over.
My purpose is to provide a space where our children can thrive, experience true learning, and identify their gifts and purpose.
At Nuna we know that learning is not linear or systematic, it can’t be! By nature, learning is organic, free flowing. This is because learning is individual to each person. The how, the why, and the results are all individual. It’s all dependent on the person’s perception, opinion, views and experiences. Therefore, learning should never be mapped out or structured for outcomes. Learning is an open experience to be left alone to take on a life of its own. This is how we learn, and we can drop it at any time and move on to something else if we choose to!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. There have been many struggles and challenges along the way. The biggest challenge was building myself back up and believing and knowing that I am capable of anything. That I hold all the answers and possibilities inside of me. That I should not look outside of myself for anything I want to accomplish. This was the hardest work I have ever done. Loving me and believing in me! Once I began to really believe in myself and move beyond the fear, my world opened up, and all the answers came to me. I wouldn’t change a thing!
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I see myself as a seeker of knowledge and truth. I love to share knowledge with others and teach. I am a creative person who has been following someone else’s blueprint for a really long time. In 2021, I broke free and decided to step into my own. While on my journey I discovered things about myself that I never knew and some that were buried under years of programming and stagnation in repetitive cycles.
I currently have an organic line of products called Nuna Organics. I make soaps, salves, balms, lotions, and shampoo bars. I also grow a lot of my own vegetables and medical herbs in my backyard. I am also the founder of Nuna 5D Community Private Education Association, where I provide a loving space for children to truly embody their childhood work on emotions, and stepping into themselves with love and acceptance.
I am most proud of the decisions I have made that have led me to this point in time, this now moment! What sets me apart from others is that I know who I am, I know what I am, and I will never again doubt myself!
Any big plans?
The future holds so many beautiful blessings for me. I am studying Holistic Midwifery and preparing to open my Private Membership Association practice named Nuna Luz Birthkeeper. I am also in the research phase of writing my book about Children during the 1st Septennium, a guide for parents, teachers, and guardians. I am also studying Homeopathy to assist and support women in pregnancy and anyone who is looking to get to the root cause of any diathesis they may be experiencing. I am open to whatever my journey will bring, and I am ready to embrace it!
