Life & Work with Diamond-Chase Bellamy of Los Angeles, CA (DTLA)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diamond-Chase Bellamy.

Hi Diamond-Chase, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I always say my story lives between two cities, Los Angeles and Chicago. I was born in Los Angeles but raised in Chicago from a very young age, and that blend of cultures shaped who I am as an artist. Chicago gave me soul, grit, and a deep musical foundation through church and community, while Los Angeles gave me space to dream bigger and evolve creatively.

I started performing when I was six years old. Music was never something I stumbled into, it was always part of my environment and my identity. I grew up around strong musical influences and learned early that storytelling through song could be powerful. From singing in youth choirs to performing on larger stages and competing in television talent spaces, I learned how to connect emotionally with an audience before I even understood the full weight of what music could do.

As a songwriter, collaboration has always been important to me. Over the years I’ve worked with different artists and creatives, including co-writing on projects alongside major names like T-Pain, which helped me understand the balance between artistry and professionalism in the industry. I’ve also released music that reflects different chapters of my growth, songs like Show Me Love, I Just Want It to Be Over, and Waterfalls — each one capturing a different version of me.

What drives me most is authenticity. I want my music to feel human, honest emotions, real experiences, and vulnerability that people can connect to. I’m not trying to fit into a single box; I’m building something that reflects all sides of who I am — singer, songwriter, visual artist, and storyteller.

Now, I see this chapter as a bridge between where I started and where I’m headed. I’m creating music that reflects growth, confidence, and individuality, while staying connected to my roots. The goal is bigger than songs, it’s about creating a space where people feel seen, inspired, and empowered to embrace their own story.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Distractions!! Lol. Whether it’s dating, dealing with family and friendship drama, work, or my own thoughts. Having ADHD also does not help! Luckily, I have a manager who keeps me focused and creates resources for me to tap into when I get flustered.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

In addition, I am committed to community impact as a founder and advocate through Grace Housing Complex, a Chicago-based nonprofit focused on community and economic development. The organization works to provide low-income families with supportive services, personal growth opportunities, and access to stable housing while promoting healthier neighborhoods through grassroots programs and outreach. Grounded in the belief that art, wellness, and community go hand in hand, my work with Grace Housing Complex reflects the same purpose-driven mindset that shapes of my music — creating spaces where people feel supported, empowered, and seen.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Starting anything can be challenging. You must have the passion, will, and self-discipline. Creating a vision board or timeline of goals can help keep one focused on the small wins, and not clouded by the overall goal.

Being able to achieve one thing each day will make the goal more achievable. The belief in yourself will increase and the sheer will power will takeover.

Another important factor is understanding but also limiting distractions from negative people, places, and things. Those negative energies can sway you from what matters most. This is where the self-discipline kicks in, and also a solid like minded team of people to hold you accountable.

Passion, self-discipline, dedication, consistency, and accountability are the major pillars I live by daily.
