Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Osegueda.
Hi Christian, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My official journey began in middle school. It’s a performing arts school that has filmmaking as one of their programs. I’ve always loved movies & photography, so I chose it as my elective. I quickly became one of the top students in the program. My teachers always praised me of my skills, talent, passion, and hard work. I then got put into their advanced program, my edits got presented in their school festivals, and I’ve received a couple awards. From there, I knew that’s what I wanted to do with my life. So I continued taking film & photography all the way through high school and college, and I got a bachelor’s degree in cinematography. I started with my iPhone and little by little upgraded my camera gear.
I started looking for work within my last 2 years of high school. Growing up, Fast & Furious was my favorite movie. I love cars, and my Dad & I went to a lot of awesome car shows. I thought that would be the perfect platform to get my career started. I’m proud to say I was right, because from there I built my portfolio, made contacts, and got booked for different kinds of work by filming the car shows, meeting a lot of people, and offering my services. Things paid off way bigger than I expected. Overtime I’ve done amazing projects, worked with incredible companies, and shot for awesome talent. From Models, Artists, Influencers, the list goes on. I’m so blessed and I love what I do!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t. In everything I’ve done, I had to work harder than anyone, earn respect, and figure out things on my own. In my field of work, it’s very competitive and nothing is guaranteed. In addition, any form of art can be a hit or miss. In the early stages of my career, one struggle I used to get was something similar to writer’s block, especially during the pandemic. Also, there were a few times where I worked on videos or photos I really liked, but it didn’t succeed based on my goals for them. However, each time that I’ve ever been challenged, discouraged, or failed, I’ve been able to learn what I can do better and comeback stronger. I remind myself why I started in the first place. I love what I do too much, and I never give up, that’s why I continue to succeed.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Video Director & Photographer based in Los Angeles, CA. I specialize in shooting high end cinematic videos and photos for artists, projects, brands, and businesses. My popular niches are Editorial, Automotive, Lifestyle, and Sports. My ultimate goal for every shoot is to elevate my subject, help bring out and exceed their potential, and achieve the highest level of greatness. I want them to look & feel rich, powerful, confident, strong minded, exclusive. I’m selective with who and what I shoot with because they consist of the absolute best. It’s what sets me apart. It’s what I’m most proud of as well as building amazing trust and great relationships.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Yes. In anything you do, first you have to love it in order to become great at it. Be respectful and professional at all times. Research and learn consistently because life is evolving way faster than it ever has. It will make your life easier if you stay up to date with everything. One thing I wish I knew earlier was that it’s perfectly fine to do something a certain way that works for you. I used to be falsely taught that I must do things a certain way just because. I don’t agree with that all the time because there are times I have to find other ways to make something work for me, and sometimes by doing that it allows me to grow significantly and stand out. As long as you have the best intentions and the upmost respect you’re going to be ok. Follow what feels right to you.
