Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexander Kisling
Hi Alexander, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After graduating from CSUN in 2018, I began getting certified as a personal trainer. I began taking clients using different lead generation websites. After a few years of building a clientele slowly, I began to get enough clients to fully support myself. In the last few years I have been able to work with people of all walks of life and different backgrounds. Its been a fulfilling journey to help people become more active and healthy in general. I’m currently specialized in corrective exercises to address muscle imbalances. Most of my current clients are of older age ranges looking to increase their longevity and reduce all cause mortality.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The first couple of years were definitely slower since I chose to work for myself right off the bat instead of working for a big gym. This allowed me to control my business, although the growth was slower in the beginning. I began offering free introductory sessions to allow myself to build rapport with potential clients without any pressure of having to pay. i noticed that this made clients feel at ease whether they chose to hire me or not. I started with having one client, then two then back to one and three then back to one. Until finally you get to point where you have several weekly clients and now I’m working to scale the business onto the online space which is my next area of focus.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a personal trainer. I have a bachelors degree in kinesiology with an option in applied fitness. I also have a certification for corrective exercise, which helps people deal with muscle imbalances. Most of my clients are of the older population. This has become my niche in the last couple of years. I’m known for helping older clients. As a trainer you go where you are most needed, for me that is in the elderly population at the moment.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck certainly has played a part in my journey. I’ve learned that being available to respond to leads in a timely manner can be the difference between getting a client and not getting one. Being prepared to respond to messages can be the best thing to help you get more lucky and land more first time clients
